AOC: I want everybody to understand that the cuts to your health care are what’s paying for this. You get screwed over to pay a bunch of thugs in the street that are shooting mothers in the face.

All of this going down during the 250th anniversary year of America is a degree of cringey writing that would be roundly mocked were it a novel published in an alternative timeline.

In case you’re wondering whether the pro-ICE reactions to Renee Nicole Good’s murder are natural, here’s a comment that was just left on my video. My video about anti-transgender bias at the BBC. I haven’t made a video about Good yet.

A woman recording an ICE agent tells him "Shame on you."

The agent responds, "Have you all not learned from the past couple of days?"

"Learned what?" she asks

Then he knocks her phone out of her hand

it’s incredibly important to note that on the new footage that came out from the ICE agent himself, halfway through the video he switches his phone between his hands, opening up to grab his gun way before renee good even starts driving

It should be bigger news that masked agents were filmed hours ago removing potentially inculpatory evidence from the ICE shooter's house, clearly lacking evidence tags or chain of custody stickers.

Before we have word on whether he underwent a toxicology screen at the hospital following the killing

By the way they put out the cell phone video that the shooter was holding WHILE he shot her, because they know it’s incriminating and they think they can control the narrative by releasing it and saying “it proves our side.”

He’s right: this is not a collapsed state. We still have civic power. Elections can’t just be canceled. Courts won’t close. Martial law isn’t coming. American democracy is wounded, not dead. Pressure is maintenance. Keep pushing relentlessly, without despair. Nihilism isn’t insight. It’s abdication.
Many of you have become drama-addicted doomers, and you seem to think it's important for the rest of us to join you.

Yes, things are bad. But change is within our power. Grow up. Act like sober, responsible adults in a democracy instead of cynical, all-is-lost teenagers.

Now get off my lawn.

Fox Producer: Jesse Watters would like to invite you on his show

AOC: He has sexualized and harassed me on his show.

FP: That’s not true

AOC: He accused me of wanting to sleep with Stephen Miller. So why don’t you tell me what you think is acceptable to tell a woman.

How are voters meant to understand how serious things are if in lieu of shouting fire AND going into building with hoses, you're simply posting fire safety suggestions on social media?

I knew that FIRE and Reason and the rest of the “free speech” bros were spineless reactionary centrists. But they have been even more reluctant to criticize Trump’s war on the free press than I would have guessed.

How very meaningful this is. Were these deep thoughts delivered during closed session?

I couldn’t bring myself to read it closely, but I didn’t notice so much as a nod toward the controversy he has decided to place himself in. What a way to start his presidency.

I have said this before and, regrettably, I will have to say it again: we don’t have to live like this. We’ve had meaningful gun control in my lifetime. Not enough, but meaningful. A start.

If you used the plot below to guess when the Federal Assault Weapon Ban expired, you’d get it right.

I want us to hang on to the fact that the people who were murdered were just civilians out in boats, most likely fishermen, who had never even heard the sketchy conclusions of American officials for which they were executed, much less had a chance to defend themselves.
