RFK Jr. ordered the NIH’s Integrated Research Facility in Frederick to stop all research on serious infectious diseases yesterday at 5:00 PM.

They study pathogens like Ebola there. You may be familiar with it from The Hot Zone.

The speed with which Congress not having the power of the purse, law and the Constitution be damned, has been normalized by the press is the most terrifying thing to me.

Heck yeah! Full-throated AGREE!!!
Pritzker: The reckoning is here. And now that this culture of timidity is on display, these same do-nothing Democrats want to blame our losses on the defense of Black people, trans kids, and immigrants, instead of on their own lack of guts and gumption.

The executive targets his opponents w/bogus investigations. His government disappears people w/out due process and vanishes them beyond reach. He usurps legislative power, controls public funds at will, & consolidates power. Loyalty is expected — or else.

Authoritarianism isn’t coming. It’s here.

One man just wiped out $10 trillion in wealth, is destroying centuries-old legal protections, and seems determined to unravel humanity’s greatest public health achievement. In 3 months.

I don’t know how we get out of this. But if we do, one person can never have that kind of power again.

Here's one statistic for you:

→ Net jobs created under Clinton and Obama: 33.8 million.
→ Net jobs created under Bush, Bush, AND Trump: 1.9 million.

That is not a typo.
Of Course Trump Will Tank the Economy. It’s What Republicans Do.
As the president’s “Liberation Day” nears, it’s time to liberate ourselves from the vicious cycle of Democrats having to clean up the GOP’s messes.

Dear Secretary Rubio,

Hi, Tufts professor here. As someone who was on campus during the time in question, your claims about what Rumeysa Ozturk did bear no resemblance to reality. So did you just revoke her visa because she co-authored an anodyne op-ed that never mentioned Hamas?

Sincerely,

DWD
Marco Rubio on Rumeysa Ozturk: "We revoked her visa ... once you've lost your visa, you're no longer legally in the United States ... if you come into the US as a visitor and create a ruckus for us, we don't want it. We don't want it in our country. Go back and do it in your country."

@aoc.bsky.social is right: Throwing trans kids under the bus isn’t just wrong — it’s a losing strategy.

If we can "avoid a government shutdown" by voting for this CR, then why is the entire Department of Education closed today? Why is USAID closed? Why are hundreds of billions in grant contracts frozen?

We are already in the shutdown. And your votes DON'T stop it. In fact, they allow it to expand.

These ten Democrats should just quit. To censure Green when there have never been consequences for MTG for egregious behavior whereas Green was protesting fascism. We are drowning in shit.

The most notable thing about this clip from the president's address to the governors is the way Maine Gov. Janet Mills stood up to Trump.

And the second most notable thing is the absolute stone-faced silence from the other governors in the room.

every inch of progress in the US is like this. BLM, defund the police, trans rights, etc — all marginal, sometimes nonexistent gains followed by massive rightward pendulum swings born of the (false) assertion that by gently prodding an issue, we’ve gone “too far”
The real MeToo “cancel culture” was what happened to the women and other victims who came forward. They were retraumatized, harassed, humiliated, sued, fired, and blacklisted. Then they were the subject of a revisionist history that MeToo went “too far” and deserved a reactionary backlash
