Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing a text, writing an email, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing since the dawn of time.

Something not talked about as much as the right wing's dismantling of democracy is what they've done to the supposedly sacrosanct market system. It's not good to let a dozen morons have all the money and make all the decisions!

look at how little effort it takes for someone on the conservative grievance circuit to destroy a life

millions of college kids have half assed an assignment at the last minute, you eat the F and move on

but the effort to push trans people out of public life will use whatever it can get

I don't think free speech on campus ought to mean that a young coddled bigot gets to use their ignorance to casually destroy the career of a knowledgeable trans person on a random Wednesday

i am a hater to america so the fact that manga is more popular and more profitable than american comics in america itself gives me great joy. they literally have the home field advantage, decades of history and the fact their population hates foreign art to their side and they lost to demon slayer

Generative AI is also causing me more work as a college professor, in teaching, research, and admin work.
So far AI is causing me more work.

One of my main responsibilities is to use a database to find certain things. This database used to have humans look at the webpage of a thing and then write a description.

Bad AI descriptions have led to an increase in false positives I need to sift through.

uBlock's block element has made browsing the web more tolerable again. AI's being shoved everywhere, in your face, all the time. Just right click and block it from your sight

Doesnt stop ai from being sinister in background, but it does make your day a little better not having to see this garbage

Spell check existed long before genAI and in its most basic function is not genAI. Spell check is code. It's a function. It checks against a database of available words. Spell check in certain programs, however, may have been made worse by running it through genAI.

We spoke to a dozen professional concept artists who are currently or have previously worked in game development about whether generative AI image tools have made their jobs any easier.

Zero said it did. Most said it made things harder.

Concept Artists Say Generative AI References Only Make Their Jobs Harder
“The ‘early ideation stages’, when worlds are being fleshed out by writers and artists, are literally crucial to the development of a game’s vision,” said one artist.

Could they also please announce that they will be stopping their apparent use of AI captions for those human made dubs?
