I was a social worker in the mid to late 80s in Houston. Worked several years in the Montrose neighborhood, most of my clients were AIDS patients who could no longer take care of themselves. The death rate was 100% & agonizing. It was a horrible time before meds & treatment were developed.
Freddy Mercury died of AIDS 33 years ago today. With modern medical technology, he likely would have lived. Never forget how much progress against major infectious disease has been made in a short time. We are at risk now of rolling back much of that progress.
