Not only has Donald Trump shut down the government, but he canceled over a billion dollars in federal projects that were going to help American families and create good-paying jobs right here at home. American workers shouldn’t have to pay for Trump’s failures.

President Trump signed the 2019 law guaranteeing back pay for federal workers during shutdowns. Now he’s trying to break it.

Federal workers shouldn’t pay the price for his political games or failed leadership.

Trump’s threat to stiff furloughed federal employees is clearly illegal.

We’re going to protect federal workers and ensure they receive the backpay they’re owed.

It’s outrageous that Trump & Vought continue to threaten the livelihoods of tens of thousands of dedicated federal workers during a government shutdown.

Read our statement below👇

Our Caucus was founded on the belief that all workers deserve good wages and benefits, safe working conditions, and a voice on the job.

Today on #WorldDayforDecentWork, we recommit ourselves to this vision and to standing with workers everywhere.

The Trump Administration’s war on energy projects is killing thousands of construction jobs around the country.

In addition to killing jobs, its also creating uncertainty and undermining American energy.

Vice-Chair @ivey.house.gov said it best: "We're in this fight to win it and we're going to keep fighting hard."

Federal workers and the American people deserve better. We’re calling on Republicans to return to the bargaining table and to stop treating workers as political pawns.

I have spoken with federal workers, union leaders, and RIF’d public servants. All they ask is to continue serving the public without the fear of not knowing what Trump will do next. (1/2)

Today, I rallied with AFGE members in East St. Louis to call out how this shutdown is disrupting critical services and threatening the livelihoods of federal workers in my district and across the country. We need a deal that reopens the government AND saves healthcare for the American people.

I joined last night's Labor Council meeting to give an update on the foolish Republican government shutdown and to hear about the very real impacts this could have on our region’s workers and economy.

I come from a union family. Unions are the backbone of the middle class.

Federal workers keep our country running—and have no business being used as political pawns to push an extremist agenda.

I stand with AFGE in demanding respect, fair pay, and dignity for every worker during this shutdown.

I spoke with federal workers fired under Trump and his allies. Now, with Russell Vought pushing to expand those purges through a GOP-led shutdown, they’re sounding the alarm about the lasting damage these reckless firings could do to the civil service.

I visited air traffic controllers at SFO who are currently working without pay due to the Republican government shutdown.

Federal workers do vital work for the American people.

It's time for Republicans to support a bipartisan budget that protects health care so we can reopen the government.

I was honored to open @seiu.org's Asian Pacific Islander Summit in Minneapolis & celebrate the incredible achievements of AAPI workers.

As Ranking Member on the Workforce Protections Subcommittee in the House, I'll keep fighting to defend labor protections at the federal level.

90 years ago, UAW Local 14 was founded on the simple but powerful belief that when working people stand together—when they insist on respect, fairness, and dignity—together we can move mountains. As a daughter of the UAW was happy to join them this week to honor that legacy of solidarity in NW Ohio.

Trump and Vought are using the shutdown as a pretext to fire even more federal workers.

These patriotic workers that have dedicated their careers to public service and supporting their fellow Americans, and they deserve better.

Workers must have a seat at the table when it comes to safety decisions regarding our country’s highways, railroads, & ports.

That's why we're calling on DOT to immediately reconvene its transportation advisory committees & restore the membership of all labor representatives.

This year’s Bricklayers’ Convention showed what makes Michigan strong: skill, pride, and solidarity. I’ve fought—and won—for workers, from passing the Butch Lewis Act to securing union jobs on infrastructure projects. I’ll always stand with Michigan’s workers.

I hosted an incredible Affordability Town Hall in Phoenix with @seiu.org and @afscme.bsky.social. If Republicans force a shutdown, workers miss paychecks, veterans face delays, and families suffer. I’ll keep fighting to make sure working people—not extremists—come first.

Great to spend time with @IBT251 at this morning’s membership meeting. For too long Washington has turned its back on the middle class and those working to join it.

That has to change now.
