the e33 devs created that work in loving homage to a genre they adored, but regarding its place as a discourse object, why are asian media works only acceptable to anglo audiences if they are made ironic (satire), orientalized (a constructed gaze of lesser cultures), or respectably haute (european)? our media culture is deeply embarrassed and self-hating really (except nostalgia, which is marketable). not even just talking about games here. let's look at how the subcontinent's film culture is broadly treated tbh

I also helped design the kids based on some picrew/celebrity pic references they had! The kids are from the fanfic's epilogue: their names are Chrysos, Lynn & Prema. They're all younger here then their appearance in the fanfic's epilogue! [2/3]

Scene is bedtime, Kabru in girlmode putting Chrysos, who is 7 or 8 to bed. Panel of Kabru telling Chrysos a dense historical bed time story that might bore some kids but Chrysos looks riveted. In another, similar panel, Laios is putting Lynn, 5 or 6, to bed with his own story, but he's gesturing dramatically, evoking monsters and swordfights. In a third panel, Rin is singing a lullaby for 2 or 3 year old Prema. Panel 1: Back to Kabru and Chrysos, though Chrysos looks sleepy, he suddenly interrupts Kabru. Chrysos: Um... Kabru? Kabru, gently: Yeah, Chrys? Panel 2: Chrysos: I know that Mom is Mom, [A faint image of Rin is in the background, indicating she's the 'mom' being referred to here], but when you're like this... Panel 3: Chrysos [off panel]: is it okay... if I call you Mom too? Kabru is shook by the question.
