For anyone who needs respite from the news, I highly recommend Taskmaster, an extremely silly long-running UK show in which five comedians compete at absurd tasks. Low-stress, high-pleasure, lots of laughs, utterly disconnected from reality. As your doctor, I hereby prescribe one episode minimum.

One of my absolute favorite games of all time. Highly recommend, especially if you like story-driven narrative games with deck building elements and fantastic art! 🩷

hey here's something I would love us all to do like RIGHT NOW: find out if your local library is doing any kind of pride programming or display, and if they are, email them to say thank you and why it matters to you. whether or not you're queer. especially if you're in an area where it's fraught

I got 10/10 on this. When it's a matter of directly comparing a real picture to a fake one...the fake ones look fake! Shiny and perfect and glossy.

Less easy when it's not a direct comparison obv, but in general, if it looks too good to be true...

Happy mama's day to the mamas!

Wishing comfort to those who wish their moms were still around.

Wishing peace to those who don't speak with their moms anymore.

Like all days, be kind today!

Oh gosh, what wasn't nerdy? We had a book arch, a sword to cut the cake, table centerpieces with sculpted items from franchises we love, a custom made achievement game where people could get us to kiss, we tossed a blue shell plushie, and our first dance was to I'd Rather Be from Steven Universe /1
Okay, the nerdiest thing at your wedding. Go!
STORYTIME.

At our wedding, my astronomer husband and I had a planetarium show (YES NERDS WE KNOW). The MC told everyone to get drunk first. During the show my drunk aunt-in-law shouted "SHOW US URANUS" and he had a whole BIT about how Uranus got rammed by something hard and let out a lot of gas. 😂

HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE.

"Tooth fairies? Hogfathers? Little—"

YES. AS PRACTICE. YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES.

"So we can believe the big ones?"

YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING.

I'm so glad this randomly popped up on my feed, because it is absolutely delightful. Fantastic art, stellar voice acting, plenty of laugh out loud moments, and a clear love of the magical girl genre. Now I just need it to have multiple seasons so that I can binge watch it ✨💖✨

Never forget that when Seoul, Korea removed the Cheonggyecheon expressway in 2003 and replaced it with a restored stream, 1000 acre park and improved public transit, not only did it TRANSFORM the city’s public life and economic success, but the car traffic got better.

The car traffic got BETTER.

Hating Valentine’s Day—bc capitalism, or being single—is overplayed.

Go spend it w friends or family, buy yourself some sweets, do an act of service for someone, etc.

Enjoy the day for what it is: a day set aside to express love to yourself & to others in a way that feels right for you. 🤍
Felt like making something cute for Valentines / Galentines weekend 💕

Dorothy B. Porter changed libraries 💜

The Dewey Decimal System used to only have two classifications for Black people: 325 (colonization) & 326 (slavery). Each book by a Black person was put into one of these classifications. A book of poetry? Classified as colonization.
