There's a good reason that section 3 of the 14th amendment was written and no good reason that it was ignored in 2021. We'd be living in a very different world now if we had taken what the constitution says seriously

Unless Trump is finally delivering the federal aid survivors need to rebuild after the horrific fires — nearly a year after California first requested it — he should keep Los Angeles out of his mouth.
Trump: "We saved Los Angeles early on, where the head of the police department made a statement that if the federal govt didn't come in, we would've lost Los Angeles. That's after the fires. That's when they had the riots. We did a great job. Got no credit for it whatsoever. It doesn't matter."
