Hello #BookSky and #author friends. As host of a book livestream, I’ve been making book trailers for three years. Recently, friends have said getting a trailer done costs $$$$. It shouldn’t. If you need a trailer, let me know. I don’t use AI, I license everything. Some examples follow:

Brexit will cost the average British household £1500 for the rest of our lives. Imagine what you could do with £1500. Imagine a nice thing you could have that you don't get to have, now.
Still reeling from the Stanford report on Brexit. Reduced GDP by up to 8% and investment by as much as 18%. The UK Treasury would have £40 billion more each year if Britain had remained in the EU. Devastating self-immolation.

haven’t seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name “Star Wars” rather than “A New Hope”

(counts on fingers). If three more resign, the GOP lose majority status. Yeah?
PUNCHBOWL: “.. GOP members messaged us over the weekend saying that they, too, are considering retiring in the middle of the term. Here’s one particularly exercised senior House Republican:

'Your point is salient.'

I'm assuming she phrased it like that so if Trump watches, he won't understand she's conceding the point. 'Huh huh, she called him an ass alien'.
CNBC: My understanding is the White House said that China was gonna buy 12 million tons of soybeans from the US by January. That's approaching and they've only purchased 332,000. China has not confirmed that pledge.

BROOKE ROLLINS: Your point is salient. We've got a significant way to go

I think we need to call out the science fiction writers who thought that billionaires would fund sexy android replicas of some lost lover.

Metropolis would hit differently if Rotwang builds a machine and all it does is say 'Joh Fredersen, your eyebrows are weird. You must have a small dick'.
Everything about this might be the saddest thing I’ve ever seen

They've spent ten years with arguments and talking points this stupid, and it's catching up with them.

Trump's suits are bespoke Brioni, like Brosnan's Bond wore. At least $5K each, and *insanely* flattering. It's not the suit.

If Labour wants to get all patriotic, don't piss around with migrants.

Introduce a patriot bill, where it requires all utility, transport and media owners to be based (and pay tax) in the UK.

Make the patriotic case that this country should control its own future and own its own free press.

Very useful, and frustrating, to know.
If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

Obviously this shouldn't exist, but while it does, I don't think there's any way of framing this law that could prevent people from just routinely checking every MP, TERF and so on every time they try to assert their gender.

'So you also go by Robert Galbraith? Hmmmm. We've flagged you.'
"Trans people could be asked about whether they should be accessing single-sex services based on their physical appearance."

No. not "trans people". ANYONE. This moral panic leads inexorably to the policing of women based on their appearance deemed to be "unfeminine".

Trans people could be barred from services based on appearance
The new code of practice on access to single-sex services cannot gain legal force until it gets sign-off from ministers.
