He/Him. A programmer with thespian leanings. I have a love of laserdiscs and physical media in general. Expect lots of rabbits, nerdiness, video editing, and unhealthy levels of Highlander 2.

LGBTQ+ welcome. Fascists not.

And since I've lost a lot this year between moving here and AI attracting more and more customers away from my other freelance businesses, don't forget that you can support this account on Patreon. 🙏
By promoting all the great projects, big and small, on a daily basis, I almost forget to promote my own. 😁

Over the past three years, between too many posts and social media relocations, I have gradually assembled a rather nice resource on sci-fi creation.

It's starting to look like something. ☝️

It's the seventh anniversary of this account (originally opened on Twitter). 🥳

What a roller coaster ride it's been (especially since the richest and most disgusting man in the world bought Twitter and I had to start over here from scratch).

Thank you for reading my posts and articles. 🖖

I’m fairly convinced that there’s no finer set of opening titles than those that grace the first series of Blake’s 7. The vivid images and fast cuts introduce the format and backstory with absolute clarity. The music is thrilling. It’s a glorious, giddy promise of adventure.

I was having such a good time that I put on the next surround album in my collection; Queen's debut album in Dolby Atmos on Blu Ray Audio.

This controversial mix is highly revisionist, with Roger Taylor redoing most of the drums and some inexcusable auto tuning on Freddie Mercury's vocals!

What the hell happened to the Doctor Who Restoration Team? They were nailing the Blu Rays to start with but now it's all an AI mess. Season 13 is simply atrocious and now it looks like Season 21 won't be much better.

I'm the Unreleased NES Games Guy, so "revive a lost NES game and get it officially released" has been on my bucket list for a long, long time. That it is a fundraiser cartridge with 100% of the profits helping even MORE preservation work happen is even cooler than I'd hoped. I'm proud of this.
We're partnering with @gamehistoryorg.bsky.social + @megacatstudios.bsky.social to release Xcavator 2025, a never before seen NES game from the legendary Chris Oberth.

100% of profits go to @gamehistoryorg.bsky.social!

The thing that gets me about this is that even if we wanted to make a positive AI ad, they never showcase AI being used to enhance someone’s day or improve their workflow. There’s no “it allows me to more easily do what I love.” It’s always presented as a failsafe for the dispassionate and incurious
Every ad for AI is like

Person: FUCK!! I don’t know what to get my loved one for Christmas!!!!!! I love them so much!!! Tell me what to do, AI!!

AI: get sock

Title Card: You are literally the smartest person for doing this

Someone else said it but it bears repeating:

"The Muppet Christmas Carol" is the best movie ever because Michael Caine treats the Muppets as fellow, human actors.

"Muppet Treasure Island" is the best movie ever because Tim Curry treats himself as a Muppet.

Advice for all "gamers" out there: go play a video game no one is talking about anymore, something like an old Gameboy Color game lost to time and online discourse. Nurture your personal connection to the medium of games/form opinions unaffected by what other people online say.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture was released 46 years ago today.

This film is truly unique within this franchise. I understand that it may not be the most accessible, but I love its tension, mystery, atmosphere, and curiosity.

Just watched the 4K Blu Ray of Star Trek: First Contact and wow! They did an incredible job at restoring the film. It looks amazing and still really stands up!

It's funny how the second entry in each Star Trek film franchise is easily the best...except for Into Darkness which is abysmal.
