Why pick material to build new seats if no one will perform or attend?
I'm sure the 22 million people whose healthcare premiums will triple in six days are delighted by this news, you inhuman fuck.

The people who profited most from the cancel culture/free speech panic were less interested in actual freedom of speech than establishing their own control over public discourse. You don't even have to take my word for it. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

They've also done studies where people have their emotions turned off and just operate on pure logic, and they can't make decisions to save their lives. We're creatures of both rationality and passion, all in a weird ass mess, and we got to stop putting gender all over it
regardless. the idea that rationality is male and feelings are female is... bullshit. for most of human history, *nobody* was out there doing objective science and impersonal law--nobody embracing free speech, free enquiry, free markets--but rather their opposites

DBH versus like Adrian Vermeule would be great TV
Like Ross Douthat versus Stephen Pinker is the least illuminating, least inspiring lineup you could possibly assemble for a debate about the role of religion in public life. And that's before we even get to "we asked two influencers to figure out whether women are worse off having rights."

It’s true if you don’t know how to use Gemini to turn your bar graphs into filthy but derivative anime porn, I won’t even read your paper.
I would struggle to trust an academic who doesn‘t know how to
use AI tools.
Which is not the same as not being critical.

What's wild to me is that this comes from City Journal, the main publication of the Manhattan Institute, a quite right-wing think tank.

Which is to say: if these (often horrific) responses are cherry-picked, the group doing the picking has an incentive to make them look as GOOD as possible.

it's just kind of the same old story? guy has deep-seated dislike for entire categories of people, tells himself a just-so story about how that dislike is principled and how, if you put him and his friends in power, those people would go away and he would be happy for once.

New: The Trump administration had a 4-part plan for the labor market in 2025. None of it worked.

The administration bet on government cuts, tariffs, deportations, and breadwinners to seal their working-class coalition. The economics didn't pay out.

@legalminimum.bsky.social So there's a new feature in FFXIV called Strategy Board, which lets people in-game create raid diagrams so the party can visualize and set locations for complex mechanics.

Yes, the TTP on it was exactly what you would think. I've also seen amogus, goatse, and 9/11.

"I only went to the pedophile's party by accident" isn't exactly the best defense of our ruling class and their morality.
NYT statement to me: "David Brooks regularly attends events to speak with noted and important business leaders to inform his columns, which is exactly what happened at this 2011 event. Mr. Brooks had no contact with him before or after this single attendance at a widely-attended dinner."

He should absolutely be fired by NYT for this. Major conflict of interest that he didn't disclose.

She’s Married to the Architect of Trump’s Darkest Policies. She Wants America to Love Her. It’s Not Going Well.
I spent a month in her head. I was surprised by what I found.
