If I have one wish for 2026, it's that the people of the United Kingdom would engage their brains a little more when reading the 'news' and thinking first, before reacting.

The pound is stronger than under the Tories. The FTSE has hit record highs. Inflation is down. Interest rates are down. Business confidence is up. Sales booming. And yet the latest YouGov poll and the narrative pushed by the media is that Reeves is doing a terrible job & the economy tanking.

Excellent news!

The Bank of England has cut interest rates again, lowering them from 4% to 3.75%.

They have also given an update on inflation expectations.

They expect a small rise in December, before Q1 next year seeing falls to 3% and Q2 2026 expecting further falls towards 2%.

Let's try that again! Welcome, surprise fall in UK inflation this morning with CPI at 3.2% in November, down from 3.6% in October (market and BoE expectations were for a smaller fall). This release surely nails on a rate cut from BoE tomorrow. Short thread to follow...
