The fundamental question— which will be put to the American people— is whether a society should prioritize access to these goods. Good housing. Nutrition. Healthcare. Education. If one argument is that these are prizes to the victors of the struggle, their argument—

The principal problem with (I can’t believe this needs to be stated) just caving and getting nothing is that it is then (honestly, correctly) seen as having always been your fault since you could have just done this at the outset. Worse, you appear to have no principle. Shameful.
Most people think the President of the United States can snap his fingers and do what he wants. Trump is eager to reinforce this, in principle and practice. If you fold now, he gets the credit. Go back on your terms or not at all. Sometimes politics is a slow bleed.

I think in our analysis you trust us to take a position but at least analyze the alternative. In this case there is no alternative. There is no political advantage to this deal. None.

One of the things I’ve heard and felt in my bones, beyond policy leanings, awfulness in presentation was the horror of what happened to the east wing of the white house. Yes, it’s a building and people are really hurting. ICE is a menace. But that visual was literal symbol of the wanton destruction.
And finally, the candidates who won were running AGAINST people endorsed by Donald Trump. Like seriously, all of them. Americans are sick of tariffs raising their costs while he focuses on renovating bathrooms in the White House.

This is so bonkers. 25k Americans. Does anyone seriously want someone this idiotic in charge?
Trump: "Every boat that we hit kills -- think of this, if it gets through -- kills 25,000 Americans plus."

This is the kind of monstrous action weak nations allow. We go out of our way to avoid this. Before a single person sputters, “but they crimed!!” remember tye ‘crimes’ are pretextual. And just imagine you were trying to protest for what you believed and were then rounded up by AOC or something.
Donald Trump is weaponizing the Department of Justice against his political opponents. This is just the latest example. Everyone who cares about democracy and the rule of law needs to speak out loudly and clearly that this is wrong. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Here’s the original clip of Ronald Reagan from April 25, 1987, where he delivered a complete and total rebuke against tariffs. Trump's calling Reagan’s words here “FAKE” and “fraudulent.” They’re 100% real. And the original clip is actually far worse for Trump, as much is left out of the ad:

this didn’t happen and if it did it is also impeachable
Trump: "By the way, a friend of mine called us the other day and he said 'I'd like to contribute any shortfall you have because of the Democrat shutdown. I'd like to contribute any shortfall you have with the military.' Today, he sent us a check for $130 million. It's gonna go the military."

It’s actually a great physical cleansing to just tear that whatever the fuck he puts up immediately and restore the east wing. Dig up his paving and restore Jackie Kennedy Rose Garden. Just cleanse him from the building. And put his portrait in a presidential pig sty.
Bonus primary points to which ever Democrat promises to demolish whatever fucking monstrosity ballroom Trump builds

Here’s the even careful headline: “Citing no evidence Democratic cities have more crime, President Trump flouts both law and tradition in deploying US Troops to intimidate those he targets as ‘enemies‘. This uses both his own language and captures his stated intent. Why soften that?

This series of events shows the fundamental flaw of having media that’s owned by corporations in an authoritarian regime. To preserve shareholder value, each must bow under threat. No ideal can withstand that. Corruption is utter. And ruinous.
This is so messed up.

Friends on the right: is this ok to talk about people who have every right you do (including life) but you don’t like? Is this who your movement is. I don’t believe it. If the Kirk assassination has shown us anything, it is that violent, homicidal ideation is contagious. Enough.

Two things can be true at once: a person can be a horrible, vile, dehumanizing popinjay and gadfly who calls for violence against those he disprefers. And he should not be killed. We don’t even know why but the ease of its being exploited is a symptom of our failure to be adults.

There‘s also what I think even average people will think: Trump and his creepy subordinates brought this to the country. That this ugliness is their atmosphere. people aren’t naifs.

Sure there are some fringe freaks who want this crap but do most Americans want a society like this? Fuck this. And fuck these aggressive assholes.
If you click through to the video, you’ll hear a young woman repeatedly telling a college professor that President Trump has declared that what the Professor had been teaching is illegal and she’ll be meeting with the head of the university about it.

It’s chilling and scary.

This was a very clear prong in the rise of every authoritarian regime. Take away a fundamental right (which I find dubious but it is as of now, fundamental) from ONE group that has no numbers and is an ‘acceptable’ group to harm.
Selectively revoking constitutional rights for vulnerable minority groups is a GIGANTIC red flag. The reddest possible flag.
