For further context twitter added a button that allows users to generate ai images using existing art posts from artists. It removes glaze and it basically reskins the artwork by using the existing work as a base. Twitter is no longer a safe space for art

tl;dr: GenAI and game design concepts traditionally referred to as "AI" (enemy behaviors, pathfinding, etc.) are not the same thing, and I'm on my knees begging people to learn the difference, lest we see more bullshit claims like what The Escapist put out re: Blue Prince.

If you don't see why Clair Obscur's use of AI might be a problem I want you to swap out "AI" with "unpaid laborers."
If you heard that they'd briefly used unpaid laborers to see if it helped their process but then decided it didn't and accidentally left one asset in, would it matter? I think so.

The AI hype cycle is even better than the blockchain or metaverse hype cycles because any functionality can just be rebranded as AI. Background erase in a photo editor? AI. Procgen tools for environ art based on copious pre-made assets? AI. Reactive NPC dialogue? That's an AI. BETTER INVEST NOW
