While we celebrate our wins, pro-housing work doesn't end there.

We’re rolling up our sleeves for the next phase: making sure these policies are enforced and improved so that everyone actually gets the keys to a home they can afford. 🗝️
Rent slowly drops in North Texas as region builds more housing — but inequities persist
Recent data shows that changing local and state policies are contributing to growing housing stock, but much of it is still out of reach for lower-income renters.

ICE's brutal killing in Minneapolis today is partly explained by an insane loophole in our legal system: Victims can sue state & local law enforcement for constitutional harms, but not federal officers.

But it doesn't have to be this way. Minnesota, acting alone, could close the loophole.
How to stop ICE’s brutality and impunity
Minnesota — and all states — must close the legal loophole that protects the shooter from accountability

in addition to being depraved, i just got a vision of a 50-year-old rittenhouse still trying to dine on killing two people when he was 17
Kyle Rittenhouse was an honored guest at a 2024 gathering of Oregon Republican activists. This is the monstrously depraved tweet he sent tonight. These are the people who claim to be defending Christianity and “western civilization.”

I checked out his timeline, and guy Musk is promoting (someone with >100k followers) is just posting straight up Stormfront ca. 2005 material, or White Aryan Resistance material ca.1989. The world’s richest man and the GOP’s most important funder has turned X into Stormfront.
checking in on elon musk, the guy who absolutely did not give a nazi salute last year

It’s not about drugs. If it was, Trump wouldn’t have pardoned one of the largest narco traffickers in the world last month.

It’s about oil and regime change.

And they need a trial now to pretend that it isn’t. Especially to distract from his sinking under Epstein and skyrocketing healthcare costs.

After a year in which Trump has bombed ...

... I’m thinking about the voters who convinced themselves that Trump was the candidate of foreign policy restraint.

Anyone know what Sacramento is doing that the rest of the state is not? What a mystery

California’s population growth slows as Sacramento increases and San Francisco flattens
The populations of California and San Francisco saw minimal gains in the 12 months ending in July, while the Sacramento region saw one of the state’s biggest jumps.

sprawl is an unmitigated environmental, social, and economic disaster

it is no longer affordable (especially when you add in transportation and time)

sprawl is driving climate change. literally.

and it is a ponzi scheme - unable to fund maintenance and replacement costs
Not a single time in this article glorifying the need for sprawl to address the US's affordable housing crisis is there a mention of the vast transportation costs of sprawling living patterns. Nor is there mention of the fact that sprawl is directly linked to disinvestment in urban cores.
America Needs More Sprawl to Fix Its Housing Crisis
The word has become an epithet for garish, reckless growth — but to fix the housing crisis, the country needs more of it.

Pretty much the entire YIMBY movement is built on this premise.
I really can't emphasize enough that if you care about local politics, all you gotta do is show up. Just a regular schmegular person showing up. Literally just show up consistently in person and within a remarkably short amount of time, you will have a shocking amount of influence.

Astroturf ass opposition.

I don‘t even like the gondola! But the California Endowment has been pouring so much money into stirring up fake outrage that I’m being negatively polarized into supporting the project.
The coalition of LA residents who oppose the Dodger Stadium gondola shut down the Metro board of directors meeting Thursday.

They forced the meeting into recess and demanded that officials at minimum allow public discussion on the project. This is a developing story.
