Retired HS teacher. Now just dinking around. Sacramento’s fine, but Big Island the best.
My former school district had a superintendent who operated much like Bari Weiss…unqualified, disdainful of the pros, arrogant in his incompetence,

When student loan borrowers are in default, how does the Trump regime respond?

By garnishing their wages.

When billionaires see their wealth hit record highs, how does the Trump regime respond?

By extending their tax cuts.

This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.

Question: When the head of the DOJ’s Civil Rights division tweets out a false statement about an individual that results in them being barraged with death threats based on their religion and ethnicity, which governmental agency would look into whether that student’s Civil Rights had been infringed?

Congratulations, those of you who decided to platform fringe voices and create a climate of fear and hate out of ignorance because those voices insisted a non-problem was a problem. They're now on an HHS stage trying to ruin children's lives. You will live with the harm you have done forever.

Rob Reiner was one of the key people behind the effort to go to court to overturn California's anti-marriage equality Proposition 8 when it passed in 2008.

Working with Chad Griffin, they founded the American Foundation for Equal Rights and got Ted Olson and David Boies to team up to fight Prop 8.

This is really incredible. The government's battle to deport Abrego Garcia has apparently been based on a lie from the start. Not even the "gang affiliation" lie or the "human smuggling" lie, but the more basic assertion that he was ordered to be deported in the first place.
🚨Judge Xinis finds that, incredibly, Mr. Abrego Garcia was never ordered deported in 2019. She notes that every since this saga began all the way back in March, the government has NEVER been able to produce any evidence that the immigration judge actually issued a removal order.

Thank god, Kilmar finally goes home. Hopefully, there can be a reckoning for those who orchestrated and facilitated this atrocity. Whether that happens any time soon, history will judge us harshly.

Indiana’s Senate has voted AGAINST the GOP gerrymander that’d have locked in a 9-0 map.

This keeps the 7-2 map in place, saving two Democratic seats heading into 2026.

The vote failed big, 19/31.

The MAJORITY of the GOP senators opposed it!

As they get a load of their health care premium increases for the coming year, this has become an increasingly desperate conversation among more than a few friends on both social media and in real life...
If ACA subsidies aren’t extended, the CBO estimates 2.2 million people will lose their health insurance in the first year, and even more thereafter (www.cbo.gov/system/files...).

Some of those people will die.
People are going to die because of the pending insurance premium hikes. I know the terrain of discourse is inconsistent and goes through a tumble cycle every 24 hours, but I really think we need to hone in on this reality and drive it home for people.

Good grief. Slaughter oral arguments are mind boggling. Conservative justices musing on and on most technical otherworldly hypotheticals divorced from current reality. Kavanaugh just said that once Congress exercises power over the president, really hard for the President to get it back!
