Postmarks used to be determined by the day you dropped something off at the Post Office.

However, under Trump’s USPS postmarks are now only issued once your mail hits a sorting facility days later (or if you stand in line to get a stamp).

This affects, ballots, bills, healthcare, rent, etc.
Here’s an NPR explainer from Oct on the Post Office’s proposed changes to its definition of postmarks. *These changes went into effect on Dec. 24.* So, if you want to prove that you mailed a ballot (or sent a check) in by a certain date, it needs to be hand-stamped by a clerk. tinyurl.com/3bdu28ne
Your ballot or other mail may not get postmarked by USPS the day it's dropped off
Close to a deadline for mailing your ballot, tax return or legal document? To make sure it gets a postmark on time under the latest USPS changes, you may want to send it early or visit a post office.

I got bitten by one of these at work today. It was on the floor under the craft cabinet and had one of its mandibles stuck in a blue seed bead. It didn't appreciate my attempts to help. To be fair, I was the one who spilled a box of seed beads earlier this year, so I suppose it was my fault.

No document will protect you. All they have to do is take it from you and "lose" it; take it from you and say you never gave it to them; claim it's fake ⬇️; make a new rule that you need ANOTHER document. Citizenship is a made-up status that governments decide the rules for. No one is free until all.
Dulce Consuelo Diaz Morales was born in Maryland. She has a valid U.S. birth certificate, medical and immunization records, and sworn affidavits.

Yet, ICE claims her documents are “not authentic” and has held her in immigration detention for days.

a lot of powerful forces are coming after life-saving healthcare for trans kids in america. if you don’t realize how enthusiastic an enabler of that part of trump’s project 2025 the new york times was, this is an excellent thread.

stop giving NYT your money & time.
How the nyt used the Cass report to restart its anti-trans propaganda campaign in the US:
Coverage of the report was initially assigned to a nyt UK correspondent, usual practice for a UK report. The story being prepared cited critics who called Cass a shoddy, political document that defied science
One reason the NYT has burned its credibility with trans people is that they still cite the discredited Cass report in reporting on trans healthcare. Never the German, Utah, or other systematic reviews supporting care. They also never provide the political context behind restrictions in care.

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

WOW: The DOJ has DELETED an image from its release of the Epstein files that shows photos of Trump in a drawer.

Yesterday, we noted that this image — file 468 — likely slipped through the cracks while officials were attempting to hide materials pertaining to Trump.

Now, it’s gone.

cis people on the skyline are genuinely more distressed by the trump-kennedy center than the fact that congress said a second time in 2 days, “no, really this kind of child’s healthcare should be banned & criminalized” & 46/47 non-GOP senators won’t commit to “i will oppose this.”

The executive order from January already took away medications (hormone therapy, puberty blockers, oral contraceptives for gender affirming uses). The only things that our local pediatric gender care clinic can still do for minors is counseling.

Just now, a national trans healthcare felony ban for youth has passed the US House, with 10 year prison terms.

3 Dems crossed party lines to vote to jail providers.

4 GOP crossed party lines to vote against.

It is not expected to pass the Senate, where Dems hold filibuster power.

Story to come.
