There are so many fucked up things with the current administration that it's hard to focus on one but this recent move is basically a death sentence for the planet. I've been involved with more boots on the ground actions over the years than I can count and this really bums me out.

One lesson from the Epstein–Mandelson affair is that we need to stop routinely rehabilitating political careers after serious scandals.

When politicians knowingly engage in grave ethical wrongdoing, that should permanently end their political careers. Being "talented" should not override that.

In other words, you do not get good policy through blind faith, fawning praise, or telling others to be quiet and trust leaders.

You get good policy by questioning leaders, raising concerns, pushing back, making your expectations known, and demanding that values be upheld.
