1. Florida banned cities from lighting up bridges rainbow colors for Pride.

So the people of Jacksonville did it themselves using flashlights and gels.

They opened the drawbridge to block them.

So they marched to a different bridge.

its crazy how dominant germany was in science (especially chemistry) in the 19th century, it was basically the international language for scientists, people came from all over the world to train at heidelberg etc, and then....
There are 2 previous historical cases of countries destroying their science and universities, crippling them for decades: Lysenkoism in the USSR and Nazi Germany. The Trump administration will be the 3rd.
It's not just budgets but research, institutions, expertise, and training the next generation.

Quite a nice paper in Cell

Step 1: Filament Assembly
Step 2: Bacterial Disassembly

Bacterial CBASS phospholipases form filaments on sensing cyclic dinucleotides—triggering cell membrane rupture to abort phage infection

Mirrors eukaryotic immune strategies of cell “self-sacrifice” like pyroptosis
Cyclic-dinucleotide-induced filamentous assembly of phospholipases governs broad CBASS immunity
Phospholipase effectors of the CBASS system assemble from an inactive dimeric state into active higher-order filamentous oligomers upon sensing cyclic dinucleotides, facilitating membrane disruption a...

Yes, that just happened: F1 drivers just drove 10 full-sized Formula One cars during the Miami Grand Prix drivers' parade made of Lego.

Each car uses 400,000 bricks and weighs a ton.

It's a collaboration over a year in the making.

Bacterial pathogen deploys the iminosugar glycosyrin to manipulate plant glycobiology
The extracellular space (apoplast) in plants is a key battleground during microbial infections. To avoid recognition, the bacterial model phytopathogen Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato DC3000 produces ...

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.

Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

When we generalize about any group of people , we shut out the people who are on the fence. Trump is going to convince a lot of MAGA to stop supporting him. I'm ok being told I have TDS if the end result is that we convince the 1.5m more people that voted for him, to no longer consider him.
Part of what has me in a spiral is that there is no reaching them, Mark. They cannot have a civil conversation that does not include insults and hatred. That's the only way they can live with the ugliness of their choices. They are now devoid of diplomacy and decency.
