Professor of evilology here. Evil people often lie to obscure their true motives. 🧵

decided to try out RedNote and it incredibly wholesome seeing the breaking down of so much stigma created by USA propaganda. Young people learning Mandarin and making sure to be inclusive of Chinese culture. Both cultures dispelling myths and confirming sad truths. Even oldies making friends!!

Love* how @qantas-official.bsky.social have gone all Orwellian on flight delays.

It’s now “your flight time has changed”.

Not an acknowledgment of the delay, let alone an apology. A notification that it has changed.

Great way to turn annoyance into anger, people. Brilliant

*do not actually love

CLIMATE CHANGE: *devastates significant portions of our society*

DEMOCRATS: this is an existential crisis! let’s solve part of it 20 years from now.

REPUBLICANS: let’s make it worse

MEDIA: huh. weird weather.

CORPORATIONS: we are Committed to saying things about solving this serious problem

I hear the former incredibly often in the non-profit sphere and every time I call it out, it makes everyone uncomfortable...
The next step after “climate change isn’t a thing” is “climate change is here and there’s nothing to do but maybe adapt”

Both are incorrect but the people who used to say the former now increasingly say the latter.
It's wild how quickly the mainstream narrative swung from "climate change won't be a crisis in the US" to "Well of course you can't get homeowners insurance if you live in California or Florida. Everyone knows that!"

You could have blinked and missed it.

Remain eternally angry that AT LEAST six years ago I started pitching multiple editors about a looming insurance crisis in California and was told it wasn't a real story, or if it was it would affect a small number of people, and even if then, it would be a negligible policy issue.

my biggest pet peeve is when people take BMI as fact and that if you're 'overweight' it's a problem that can and should be solved rather than a statistical tool that's been debunked as useless time and time again. Biology is never an 'average', and this goes for more than weight...
Cardiorespiratory fitness overrides BMI for association with reduced all-cause and cardiovascular mortality, results from a systematic review of 20 studies

The Government cannot just bribe away our human rights obligations by paying countries to commit human rights abuses on its behalf. This includes for all 150 refugees held offshore.

Will Labor listen?

These bastards have refused to pay taxes on their wealth, deliberately destroying essential public services. Not to mention undermining climate action.

Now they want to bypass process and divert the remaining services to their own personal use.

Surprise fucking surprise
“Will pay any amount.”

Feels like one of those futile pleas we’re going to hear from wealthy people more and more in the era of climate change.
