I had a professor of Jewish Studies at UChicago who made the administration very angry because every year he made a proposal for the university to create an on-campus memorial to the worldwide victims of the UChicago economics department.

Who Remembers the Armenians?
I remember them
and I ride the nightmare bus with them
each night
and my coffee, this morning
I'm drinking it with them

You, murderer -
Who remembers you?

Look sometimes people take my shitposting seriously and actually respond with smart stuff.
Alternate converse thought experiment: "All TRPGs need an uncertainty creation mechanism, through which unexpected, but not unwelcom, situations and outcomes appear in play."

The big takeaway here is that Reuters won this case against the AI company on grounds they violated fair use—the judge found the AI company was guilty because, in using copyrighted works to generate its output, it “meant to compete... by developing a market substitute.”

Huge.

Thomson Reuters has won the first major AI copyright case in the US. The decision has big implications for the battle between generative AI companies and rightsholders.

when Last Week Tonight did a piece on environmental racism in America, John Oliver said that “racism is one of the few things in this country more powerful than money”

idk if he came up with that line himself, or if one of his writers did, but it’s been rattling around my brain ever since

“To turn off, go to Settings > Apps > Photos on iOS and turn off Enhanced Visual Search. On Mac, open Photos and go to Settings > General to do the same. You must do it on each of your Apple devices.”
Apple has opted iOS and MacOS users into an AI photo scanning feature which tries to extract landmarks from your photos called Enhanced Visual Search by default with little notice.
