One of the images from my old body of work "It's Allright Around Here Isn't It?", to date the only body of work that has been exhibited. Made with my Yashica D on Kodak Ektar 100 in 2020 #filmisnotdead #photography #believeinfilm

Popped to Brighton for #HolgaWeek Saturday with a bunch of Holgaites. Great fun! Went up the i360. It's very impressive from the outside and within.

Triple distortions from a Holga lens, more from the PAN 120 lens and the super curved glass of the i360 🤪
A grainy, black-and-white, high-angle photograph shows the remains of a pier jutting out into a turbulent sea from a sandy beach. The wooden structure, possibly the remnants of an old pavilion, sits further out, mostly submerged and surrounded by crashing waves. Closer to the shore, two distinct rows of vertical wooden posts stand in the shallows, casting faint reflections on the wet sand. The overall impression is one of decay and the relentless power of the ocean, captured with a blurry, perhaps intentional soft-focus aesthetic.

Vanity is the Devil's butthole! At least I think that's what the picture in my book is trying to say. In case I'm wrong, I would love to hear someone else's interpretation #Halloweason #Halloween. #Fall #Autumn #books #BookSky

no no the publishing industry is doing fine, why do you ask
A screenshot from Publisher's Lunch:
Jennifer L. Armentrout and Hellmann's
In a promotion designed for BookTok enjoyment, Jennifer L. Armentrout’s just-published THE PRIMAL OF BLOOD AND BONE is available in a special, limited-edition "garlic-scented copy, infused with Hellmann’s Garlic Aioli to create a one-of-a-kind, Craven-proof book." They explain: "This exclusive edition is printed with garlic-infused ink, designed to ward off Armentrout’s bloodthirsty monsters, the Craven. While humans may dread garlic breath, Hellmann’s has cleverly transformed this social faux pas into an unexpected – and delicious – form of supernatural protection."

Hi, here's what I read in September! My favorite was Moby Dick, of course! 🐳 The Very Secret Society was not my personal favorite, and the ones who say that the early Murakami's are "just vibes" & lacking substance are wrong!!! But that's just what I think...

October Country
Ray Bradbury
for @tomsbrown.bsky.social and any others who love this month.
OCTOBER COUNTRY
By Ray Bradbury
... that country where it is always turning late in the year. That country where the hills are fog and the rivers are mist; where noons go quickly, dusks and twilights linger, and midnights stay. That country composed in the main of cellars, sub-cellars, coal-bins, closets, attics, and pantries faced away from the sun.
That country whose people are autumn people, thinking only autumn thoughts. Whose people passing at night on the empty walks sound like rain. ...

#Tarot underneath/shadow card of evening: Six of Cups. Releasing parts of the past is not easy. Do hold on to the good parts and cherish the good memories. So yes, hold on to that teddy bear or other symbol of the good times and draw comfort.

Card from the Joker Tarot deck.
Six of Cups.
An elder harlequin, holds a teddy bear close. They have a somewhat somber expression.

A very fun (is that the right word?) take on Sword & Sorcery. Involves a bishop’s descent into hell in search of an elusive manuscript.
I personally love any type of medieval horror.

I’m close to where you are in this book (141) it’s so sweet! It’s a nice reprieve

Moby Dick threw any expectations I had out the window, also exceeded any. I really loved it. I’m a bit over an hour into listening to Bert Dreyfus’ lecture on it

Haven’t read Icefields but it’s on my list to read. I do have the book Arctic Dreams by Barry Lopez that I have not read yet

I too love novels that have an academic setting! That’s what drew me to Babel. Interesting, I recently bought a little collection of poetry by Eliot so that’s interesting to know. The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock is one of my favorites.

I’ve heard mixed things! I liked her books Yellowface & Babel but they were not favorites for me. She always has great ideas though, Katabasis being no exception. I agree, the first page is promising!

Reading “The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches” at the same time as “Story of the Eye” because it’s all about balance…
