Just astonishing that after all this time and with so many disabled by it Long Covid is still ignored in this kind of study.

Excellent letter from the Bishop of Birmingham to Robert Jenrick.

At a time when so many other voices have been silent, the bishops have been admirably outspoken against attempts to stir up division.

The churches do a lot of community cohesion work & do not want to see this trashed for party gain.

I’m appalled to now live in a country where our racist politicians are so emboldened that they can parade their racism with no consequences. I’m worried about where we’re headed.

Even a line to say that resting is very important as pushing through can increase the risk of Long Covid would have been helpful. And a mention that the risk of Long Covid increases with each infection but vaccination can mitigate the risk. You mention meningitis but surely LC is a bigger risk?

Experts feared it would take 193 years to reduce London's deadly levels of NO₂ air pollution to legal levels.

This week Mayor Sadiq Khan announced his team had defied the howls of pro-fossil fuel and motoring lobbyists to achieve the life-saving target in just 9 YEARS.

Here's how they did it 🧵

Japan: "Okayama study underscores risk of long COVID, new variant"

Of the 774 long COVID Omicron patients, 370 were in the ‘early recovery group’ (within 6 months). The other 404 (52%) had symptoms 180+ days, with some lasting 2–3 years. Women made up about 60% of this persistent group.

Proud to have been involved in this work! Not surprised by this major under-recording of #LongCovid in healthcare records but it proves that using healthcare records/coding as evidence of the number of p/w Long Covid is substantially inaccurate…and downright dangerous.

important article highlighting the continuing benefit to both mother and newborn of vaccinating pregnant women against Covid.

The US under RFK Jr just stopped recommending vax for pregnant women. The UK has withdrawn vax for pregnant women too - I think both are very stupid decisions.

How utterly moronic of Labour not to realise that it has nothing to do with contribution, whatever that means, you’ll never appease Reform voters with this, they just don’t like Brown & Black people and nothing any of them do will ever be good enough, they’ll still want them deported. So depressing

AI medical tools found to downplay symptoms of women, ethnic minorities

Bias-reflecting LLMs lead to inferior medical advice for female, Black, and Asian patients.

None of this should be surprising, considering the terribly flawed data that these tools are based upon. Garbage in, garbage out.
