I've been thinking similar things since the other morning when I was on the subway and I saw a guy clearly on drugs (he made it clear by saying so) in dockers and a gingham shirt telling two strangers that their baby was so beautiful it made him want to be a father.
The Subway Is Not Scary
Fear of the subway is a mark of low moral character.

No, New York Times. That's not what trans people are saying.

Look I get Sarah McBride is a member of Congress and I'm a literal nobody. But honestly, most trans people, and especially poor and racialized trans people, don't have the option of waiting for public opinion to catch up, and they deserve better than being written off as born too early.

Sarah McBride did a 90 minute interview with Ezra Klein (NYT) on trans rights.

I'm only partway in, but she's already spent most of the time saying we should compromise with the far right and lecturing trans activists for talking too much about the material harms facing our communities.

Would be amazing to get a single piece of media on this topic centered on the right's firehose of bigotry and misinformation rather than "the trans rights movement's shortcomings"

At no point in this entire article of 16 paragraphs does ABC mention that another cop killed this cop by shooting her in the back. Nor does it mention the name of the cop who killed this cop. Nor does it mention that the civilians involved never fired at them.

ABC might as well be state media.

And neither should you.

Parking mandates increase housing costs.

Cities can choose to lower housing costs by getting rid of these requirements

Opinion: Want more affordable housing? Start by ending parking mandates.
Chicago’s iconic two- and three-flats are at risk. Reforming parking mandates could help preserve them and expand affordable housing across the city.

People read history books and ask "Why didn't the German people do anything while the Gestapo raided Jewish communities?"

Well, the people in Los Angeles protesting ICE are doing something.

Inspired by someone posting an old Woolworth's menu: One of my cranky ideas is that society lost something important when we gave up cafeterias, both in department stores and as stand-alone businesses. They were good for cheap, healthy food and they were good for democracy.
