…If that’s the strategy why did Harrell’s Comp Plan only allow corner stores on literal corners!? We had to do a whole advocacy campaign to fix that…

If you haven’t watched birth of a nation, you really should. Not only is it instructional on how white supremacist narratives work, it also showcases what James Baldwin talks about-

Brandi Kruse, who was once a local FOX reporter, was at the Trump Fan Club meeting, made a cutesy remark about how attractive she, Brandi, is, and Trump drooled something back.

Then she trashed the actual reporters in the room.

Porter was legitimately abusive to her staff, and we shouldn't sweep that under the rug.

This isn't about her gender, it's about her quality of character. Playing it off as being a gender issue undermines the fact she's well-known in OC circles for abuse, particularly toward those w/ less power.

New — I was fortunate to speak in front of students and faculty at Grinnell College in Iowa tonight about the business of independent journalism, the current state of media under Trump 2.0, and billionaire control.

I published my full speech because I thought it might resonate beyond campus:
Truth, morality and independence in journalism under the second Trump regime

This doesn’t happen with modern subway cars. It’s only because the MTA is too afraid to try anything new that even a 12-year-old girl can climb on top of the train.

Gisele Pelicot was in court today to face one of her rapists.

Husamettin Dogan is appealing his 9 year sentence, arguing he is a victim.

Gisele told him to take responsibility:

"I am the only victim … at what moment did I give you my consent? Never"

Dogan faces 20 years if he loses his appeal:

This is a five alarm fire.

Serious implications here: a sitting governor saying basically that the U.S. president is planning to use the military to overthrow democracy in America.

Pritzker: "He wants to militarize major cities because he wants us to get used to the idea of troops on the streets. I believe he's gonna post people outside of polling places and if he needs to in order to control those elections, he'll assume control of the ballot boxes & count the votes himself"

"Other non-Murdoch national media may lack overt complicity but tilt heavily corporate and are not inclined to unsettle advertisers. Meanwhile, journalism is starving, shedding workers in ways that begin to echo the kind of silence and blackouts that arise due to repression in police states.”
