„The EU spends about 2% of GDP on research and development, barely half America’s 3.6%. Most of the gap is explained by lower R&D spending by businesses. That calls for deeper capital markets to provide risk capital for innovative firms…“ (alle Zitate: The Economist)

Marine Le Pen is going to jail and won't be able to run in 2027. Judges have applied the law in a case that has exposed extraordinary amounts of criminal activities. Don't make this a question of public opinion or what the far right and foreign leaders think of it. It's the rule of law at work.

🧵 NEW: Is Britain really a high tax country?

Our collective tax bill is at its highest share of GDP since the 1940s

But actually, the tax and NI paid by the average worker are at their lowest in decades.

What’s going on?

Aside from any electoral impact (many Germans view Merkel nostalgically, but times have changed and Merz wants to show CDU has too), something almost Shakespearean about AM confronting the man she outmanoeuvred 23 years ago just as he's finally on the brink of power...

Viktor Orbán celebrating the CDU/CSU voting with the AfD. Says much about where the applause for Merz move is coming from, in Germany and in the EU.

In December 1419 in the kingdom of Bohemia thousands of ordinary people, farmers, artisans, even some noblemen took their families, their livestock and whatever money they had and moved into one of only five cities. Why would they do that? #history #bohemia #hussite 🧵(1/
