My nephew is dyslexic and his high school offers an alternative learning track for students like him.
My sister called the school yesterday to confirm she'd like him enrolled in that programme and was told it might not be available next year because the new curriculum doesn't include it. 😱😱

Why is it "frankly disgusting" for parents and schools to stand up for what THEY believe is right for their tamariki? Why is the PM allowing his MPs to spread anti-worker, anti-Te Tiriti disinformation on social media?

FUCK (and I can 𝐍𝐎𝐓 emphasise this hard enough) OFF.

One of the absolute basic building blocks of a modern 21st century Labour movement must be, without any deviation or semantic gymnastics, pay equity.

When they say they’ve had to make “difficult decisions” on spending and taxation they mean difficult for us, not difficult for them.

two reasons:

- rich people have lawyers and lobbyists

- the wealthy have bought our body politic

- the wealthy do their best to control the narrative (media ownership, anyone?) - but there's this Polanski bloke who's messing that bit up

There are a number of past studies/stats that document that the alleged exodus of high earners as a result of taxation isn't actually true. I append another below.

Not fleeing: New report shows more wealthy residents in Mass., 2 years into 'millionaire's tax'
Despite previous concerns, Massachusetts' "millionaire's tax" hasn't seemed to deter high-earners from continuing to live here, according to a new study from the Institute for Policy Studies.

It’s astonishing. A company that helps rich people evade tax publishes a SINGLE study based on incredibly flimsy data (people’s LinkedIn profiles) and it’s suddenly an immutable fact to everyone from the S*n to the FT.

Why is it always necessary to hit the living standards of the 99%?

When are we going to make the necessary decisions about extreme wealth?
