In an ecosystem disrupted by federal volatility, Atlanta leaders will be judged not by their rhetoric, but by their willingness to act — to upzone where it’s uncomfortable, to tax where it’s overdue, and to preserve affordability before it disappears.

Better transit is possible. We just need leaders with vision, competence, presence (as in, they ride the system so they have a stake in the system succeeding), consistency, and flexibility. Phil Eng and Randy Clarke have that Jonathan Hunt might have the juice too.

Trekked to the 7 Subway at Grand Central today to see “Abstract Futures” (2025), the newest public artwork to grace the walls of the New York City subway system, designed by the feminist art collective Hilma’s Ghost, a 600-square-foot glass mosaic mural. Remarkable!

Baltimore’s zoning bill would allow up to 4 units on SFH lots.

This op-ed is really good…she counters the “every neighborhood is different” justification well: if zoning’s purpose is to protect health and wellbeing, why would different neighborhood histories justify different laws today

My wokest opinion is that futures trading shouldn’t be legal for any trader. If you don’t believe in a stock, divest, and let the price fall. The bets and counterbets are just weird gambles that reward the risk-addled rich and periodically screw over our economy.

This beautiful image features a train going past buildings that have stores at the bottom, with trees and other greenery nearby, and with people walking on a path alongside the tracks (and public seating too!). 😍

Atlanta can do this.

While I was playing around videoing airplanes flying under the aurora last night, I had my other camera taking stills. Here's 1661 stills connected covering 55 actual minutes. The bright, fast moving streaks are the airplanes. I sped this up faster than normal because we all have swiping to do.

We are at that time of year when journalists write holiday stories: evergreen pieces that could theoretically run whenever an editor wanted. These stories are often ridiculous and glorious. I flex my writer muscles on them.

This group is trying to prevent a church from building supportive housing for elderly disabled homeless residents.

People this heartless should not be taken seriously at any level.
Here is the website NIMBYs have set up to oppose a Permanent Support Housing project in Kirkwood. They would rather people sleep in the freezing temperatures outside than see this development be built on church property.
