I said "ENOUGH!!!"

As a pastor's kid and the youngest in my family, I learned to keep quiet and do what was expected of me. I internalised that my voice didn't matter.

So, uh, random story...

I dropped my phone into my Mum's grave.

After her graveside service, all but a few family members had left, and my sisters and I were kneeling by her grave, crying together.

Amidst my grief, I somehow dropped my phone, and down it slid, into the grave.

If you're new to the Headline of the Year contest, it's surprisingly elaborate -- for the next few days, I'll be keeping track of reposts & likes on here and elsewhere (mostly here it seems at this point) and that will seed the top 16 headlines.

Then-- a four-round knock-out battle for the title!

Today is World Basketball Day.
On this day in 1891, the first game of basketball, based on the rules created by Canadian James Naismith, was played. He based the new sport on games he played as a youth in Canada, including duck on a rock. By 1936, it was an Olympic sport.

Creating beauty anyway is a form of resistance.

You all know the drill for the coming days, we’ve trained. These weird days between work and school being over and the year actually ending are under Airport Law. People can eat breakfast at 9pm, or pie with gin at 9am.

It's been a TerribleHorribleNoGoodVeryBad month and a half, between multiple viruses cycling between my multiple kids and all of the ongoing co-parenting drama, so I am absolutely thrilled to relax at home alone on this Friday night and finally watch the new Knives Out film!

If Putin is anything like my soon-to-be-ex, 'Respect' doesn't actually mean honouring the other's intrinsic value, but rather is about absolute adoration and eager compliance with every whim, and no expectation of mutual responsibility.

“Just say no” to an AI future — @tressiemcphd.bsky.social

Because the future is not decided and the people saying that it is are worried that it won’t be.
"This promise of an AI future, is really just a collective anxiety that wealthy people have about how well they're gonna be able to control us in the future."

- @tressiemcphd.bsky.social with an absolute mic drop moment about AI bullshit.

Incredible words.
Listen to all of it!
