If we transported 2025 Charlie Kirk back to 2012 he would have been widely considered the most vile and contemptible human being in politics, worse even than Limbaugh. That he wasn't in 2025 is a testament to how much of a permission structure for gutter racism the right has built.

I assure you this is not what they’re hoping. They’re very clear about what they’re hoping.
This is stochastic terrorism. They want plausible deniability, and maybe they're hoping their followers will "just scare him enough that he goes into hiding". But that is also terrorism.
Law enforcement should shut down Twitter, which has become a hub for extremely frightening incitement of violence. Huge, explicitly violent neo-Nazi accounts are posting the information of prominent liberals in an attempt to get folks killed by their large, violent followings

“Demagogue shot by radical” is in fact a pretty common life outcome for demagogues. The problem here isn’t that the accurate narrative is complicated or hard to comprehend but that it’s socially inconvenient and gets scary people to yell at you.
