Australia has had solar subsidies for so long that some of my Aussie colleagues are eligible for a second round of upgrades because it's been ten years.

NZ meanwhile, we can't have nice things. It might upset the status quo.

In 1975, Bill Rowling's Labour Govt introduced a compulsory contributory scheme that would have made AoNZ the 'Switzerland of the South Pacific'.

Naturally the right-wing National Party under Muldoon wrecked it and with it our chance for individual prosperity in retirement. National are vandals.
The ‘enormous bribe’ 50 years ago that cost New Zealand $625 billion. And the price we will pay for decades
Changes made today will still take decades to make up for the shortfall of a decision made in 1975. Damien Venuto looks into how a fiery politician changed the course of New Zealand’s history.

The deadly threats in our air – and how we can fix them
Air pollution in New Zealand is contributing to thousands of premature deaths each year. Atmospheric chemist Dr Joel Rindelaub says we have the knowledge – and a compelling economic case – to fix it.

I saw Prime Minister today. It was a moving account of Jacinda’s 5 years of superlative and inspiring leadership. The sad part is that it really hits home how far we’ve sunk as a country. The current Govt led by Luxon has trashed this country’s soul and our international reputation.

I’ve been quiet on here mainly because I’m back working in the public service and feel less able to express myself. But I’ve been having a lot of thoughts about checks and balances, and the fragility of our democracy. I’ve always assumed that there is fundamental decentness and plodding 1/

When you fuck up the Workplace Safety policy so bad that even BusinessNZ agrees with the CTU - maybe you should have had some actual workplace experience, eh Brooke?

Yes - you heard that right - BusinessNZ *and* the CTU agree!! (rarest sentence in NZ English)

So Hipkins did front the inquiry & they let him go an hour early b/c they ran out of questions. Also Winston was part of the leadership team & urged vacs, ACT were offering $ for vax and National were begging for Labour to borrow more.

Such dirty politics & 1News analysis tonight wasn't great

This feeling of being dragged kicking and screaming back into the dark ages is so exhausting. The existential despair is crushing this morning and we are meant to just go and do our silly jobs and pay our silly bills and act like everything is normal when it’s all wrong.

This is why Trump's lickspittle henchman Kash Patel sneaking into the country and opening an FBI Office here should be of great concern to AoNZ. Asha Rangappa is a former FBI agent. The new office is like allowing the Gestapo to open an office in Wellington in 1938. #nzpol

Very interesting article about what we know about COVID and importance of vaccination 5 years on. I’ve had all my shots and I’m sure that protected me in a recent close exposure.
