It’s absolutely true that AI is reducing jobs, but not like you think. AI is not *doing* those jobs instead of people, AI speculation is redirecting *investment* away from job-creating businesses to capital-intensive businesses.

In Italia la propaganda filorussa convive con una narrazione ricorrente di presunta censura, alimentata da opinionisti e media che godono in realtà di ampia visibilità. I casi Orsini, D’Orsi, Limes e ...

Wildly different things, tasks, techniques, subspecialties being lumped into "AI" and then being conflated with each other, doesn't help. Different types of models vs the techniques to train them vs the tasks they are supposed to accomplish, all under "AI".

The ACM Digital Library, where a LOT of computing-related research is published (I'd say at least 75% of my own publications), is now not only providing (without consent of the authors and without opt-in by readers) AI-generated summaries of papers, but they appear as the *default* over abstracts.

America, you have spoken loud and clear: You do not like AI. But what if AI is the way to restart the world’s idea machine?
We’re running out of good ideas. AI might be how we find new ones.
What if the best use of AI is restarting the world’s idea machine?

Per my last re-post, twice this year I've been commissioned to write reviews of harms that can arise from the use of LLMs and then, as we surface the harms, told
it's not appropriate to be political.
But LLMs are a deeply extractive technology, they are political by design.

I got to deliver a talk on the history and legacy of the Hays Code and the Comics Code, contemporary censorship efforts, and the necessity of identifying with criminality. You can watch and read the whole thing here:

These ridiculous mega-projects like "datacenters in space" (doomed by thermodynamics) make a LOT more sense when you realize they're massive Ponzi schemes designed to transfer wealth from pension funds to VC's through "fee stacking."

It's the old Assets Under Management con. It should be illegal.
