"I've directed the Secretary of War to invade war-ravaged Portland" feels like a Portlandia pitch someone wrote on a napkin with a half-dry Sharpie.

Road tripping through the middle of nowhere and I notice the highway is adopted by the Washington Three Percenters. Definitely not getting out of the car at this gas station, the militia owns the highway and we are so rural. Locking the doors, letting my cis fiancée grab snacks.

Went back to my hometown to take care of legal stuff. One highlight was when I said “Dad if I recall right when I came out you weren’t very surprised,” and he said “Well yeah, I always figured you were gay or whatever.”

I run a little discord group for disabled trans ppl, pretty small, just a handful of folks. But we’ve built this vibrant community where we share art and joy and help each other with medical issues. With increasing censorship of trans and disabled voices lately, I worry we’ll be banned eventually.

I’ve been fighting my insurance company (Medicaid) to get a gender affirming procedure covered for months now. Heard the final verdict today. They’re willing to pay up to $844 for a $25,000 procedure. Surgeon balked, surgery is off for good.

Well. Today sucks. Scared for all my siblings in the UK. Scared for how this will influence courts internationally. My head hurts as much as my heart y’all. 💔

The four aerial embroidery landscapes I still have left available, and the first two are reduced as they've been around quite a while! Which one of the four stands out to you most? :) All here: victoriaroserichards.co.uk/collection/a... and any shares would be very welcome!

In a way the tone is almost as frightening as the substance. The dissent writes like it understands the stakes, and what kind of regime we're on the precipice of becoming. The majority writes like it's hearing a case about whether rollerblades can be taxed as vehicles.
#BREAKING: 5-4 Court, with Barrett joining the three Dem. appointees in dissent *vacates* Chief Judge Boasberg’s temporary restraining orders in the Alien Enemy Act cases. Judicial review must be available, Court holds, but has to come through habeas petitions:

"disavow anything advocating for disruption"

aka any protest worth a damn.
This 50501 statement sucks so bad. They say they're "rooted in peaceful advocacy" & won't "endanger law enforcement"... they "expect" people to "act lawfully" & "disavow any disruption or violence" & work in accordance with the police

Stay away. These people will sell you out in a second.

The classic migraine question: am I yawning because I couldn’t sleep, or because I’m getting a migraine? Could I not sleep because of my developing migraine, or is my migraine developing because I couldn’t sleep? I am the cat, I am both dead and alive. #migrainechat

It's snowing on the same day there is thunder in the springtime, the Switch 2 is $650, Dogma is back in theatres, every word processor has AI that doesn't do anything, they're all $30/month but $35 for No AI. Hidden below the surface of the world the bones of the old Gods shake and weep.

I knew something was off about my gender by puberty and came out as genderqueer to friends. When my aunt came out and I saw my family’s hostility, that & bullying put me back in the closet another 10 years. Transitioning was the best decision I ever made. I can finally thrive in my body. Trans day of visibility is a good day to mention that I have been absolutely tearing through @emilystjams.bsky.social's Woodworking the past few days.

A warm, funny, compelling read that I have no doubt will stick the landing when I finish it tonight.

"Well, gee, Ms. Abra, I sure do want to support trans authors on #TransDayofVisibility, but you see, I'm defeating capitalism with my Amazon boycott. Aw shucks!"

Great news! Here's a thread of trans authors with books available not on Amazon!
I know a lot of people are boycotting Amazon, which is great, but it's hurting a lot of trans authors.

Trans authors: Drop links to your NON-AMAZON book listings/storefronts.

Cis people: Repost, boost, and, importantly, buy. Part of boycotting an evil corporation is supporting the alternatives.

This book was so important to me and so many people I know, it articulated feelings that I didn’t have words for and is such a real depiction of trans experience. It deserves this honor and more.
Detransition, Baby on the Kirkus BEST OF THE CENTURY!!!

Very happy!
Here's a fun thing: We at Kirkus have spent the last few months reading and debating the best books of the 21st century (so far!) in fiction, nonfiction, and young readers' literature. Here's the list of 100 fiction titles: www.kirkusreviews.com/fiction/best...

This is the best write up on how it feels to be chronically ill that I've ever read. I feel so seen! Non-disabled people, please read this to learn what the chronically ill people in your life probably experience.
“I don’t know how you do it! I could never be chronically ill!”

We didn’t get a choice. No one asked our permission. Disability just happens. It can happen to you too.

We cope because we have no choice. We can’t trade our bodies in for new ones. We can’t “try harder” our way out of it.
Why Are Chronically Ill People Forced to Hide Their Pain?
And what would happen if we stopped hiding and showed the world the depths of our suffering?

Shocker, almost like our healthcare system is so broken that people pretty much universally agree it needs to change

The Montana Bathroom ban is signed into law.

Gianforte thanked the Alliance Defending Freedom and Riley Gaines in his address.

This makes it against the law for trans people to use the bathroom in the airport, parks, the capitol building, and more.

It also impacts me and my wife Zooey personally.

What twisted universe do you have to inhabit where the phrase "illegally housing a child" makes any sense at all.
Alert: Transphobe parent Cynthia "Cindy" Stein of La Plata County, Colorado kicked her minor trans son out of the house, then when a trans woman and her wife took him in off the streets and gave him shelter, Stein called the cops on them with false accusations: www.durangoherald.com/articles/for...

Whoever you are, if you think the fascists won’t turn on you, too, you are a hopeless rube. Fascists are for crushing, not debating.
the very next post in this thread is "not even her lawyer knows where she is" and if you think they're gonna stop with non-citizens, I think in a year or two you're gonna be proven very wrong
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.

They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

I had to give up my car because of how bad my migraines have gotten. I got in a crash while I was having a migraine and shouldn’t have been driving. I decided that even if I could safely drive somewhere, the chances of being able to safely drive home were too low. Going home is always an expedition!
