This is odd framing.
Luxon's the one in trouble here, for making a deal so shonky it's straining coalition unity.
His negotiation skills and his leadership nous are in question.
Labour and the Greens are in a position to make political hay - to point out Luxon's flaws and make demands

Labour, Greens in the hot seat over India free trade agreement
Analysis - Winston Peters' opposition to the India free trade deal has turned what could have been a huge win for the prime minister into a complex political scrap.

After slashing $7b worth of infrastructure projects in 2023

Remember our first IREX boat would be doing revenue services just in time for the Xmas rush by now. But thanks to Willis we have to wait until 2029 for sub optimal replacements instead
The Government has mostly fulfilled its promise to have $7 billion worth of infrastructure projects underway by Christmas, after a challenging year for the sector.

These articles always talk about the billions of dollars of gold - but that is effectively the money that is going overseas, leaving kiwis with pennies in the dollar.

In 2024/2025 the NZ Govt received a total of $143 million from all mining, all sources.

Hello fellow patriots

Did you know that at 3.30pm today the govt is introducing an “undisclosed bill” which, as the title suggests, means no one knows what it is.

The opposition needs to prepare for a bill that they haven’t been told about…can someone tell me how that is democratic?

NZ Herald's Thomas Coughlan once again complains about "lazy commentators" comparing Nicola Willis to Ruth Richardson, even though he then admits Richardson herself wants Willis to copy her devastating benefit cuts.

A lot of our media fell for Willis' "liberal" posing and can't admit it.
