Gave penguins timing-sensitive motor planning capabilities. In other words, they can try to move a body part to a specific place *at a specific time*. This is vital for NPCs with a sense of rhythm or good reflexes!

Made the classic rookie mistake of pouring boiling water into a room temperature pyrex. It did not like that at all, let me know with a bang, and left a hot watery mess of broken glass. Thankfully the shards didn't fly as forcefully as the sound, but I might have trust issues when pouring hot water.

Making Penguin Festival's VR gameplay trailer was really challenging, but also fun and rewarding. Here's a little postmortem for my own posterity but also in case anyone else finds it helpful!

I’ve been following this indie game for a while - its Kickstarter ends Saturday! It’s at $11,634 and needs to reach $12,000 or it will sadly lose ALL of its funding.

If you love indie games or puzzle platformers, check it out and consider supporting 🫶🏻✨

I'm such a C# shill but,

any time I hear someone say "the garbage collector slows things down too much" I feel like they're not aware of just how many tools you have to avoid heap allocations

it seems to me whatever work that entails, it's almost always less work than using an unmanaged language

thundergolfer.com/blog/aws-us-... I think is a much better outage summary than the one that AWS published. I understand the time pressure AWS was under to get something out, but I found the initial report to be quite baroque and hard to comprehend.

This is reminds of a band from Sweden I learned about. The lead made a hybrid electronic-hand cranks music machine that makes its song(s) via marbles dropping on a variety of instruments.

It's my 🎂Birthday🥳 today so it would be a great time to play Moving Houses! Or leave a review for it (those help so much)! Or just share this around. Get a friend to play it. Don't tell them anything about it. It's better that way... store.steampowered.com/app/2831060/...
Moving Houses on Steam
A silly little physics-based game about moving on... or is it? Be neat, be careful, or be a chaos goblin. The choice is yours. But be warned, not all is as it seems in this quiet little house.

A quick gamedev history story.

When I started my career, there were so few 3d artist the company I was hired by had to start a training school to make enough to actually make a big game.

At first we didn't know anything. Real time 3D was new and primitive, and nobody really had mastered it.
