this week has been three weeks long already

I'm tired and struggling to keep up day-to-day things. There's dishes that need doing, the house is covered in dust bunnies. I am also trying to get exercise and make food instead of reaching for convenience. Other to-do list includes emailing folks and sending out various communications.

Every few years there's some guy who makes his stalking known to me. This one decided a fb message was the way to go. I've never spoken to or interacted with this person, to my memory. Anway, they're now blocked.

I am so close to rage quitting my job this week. I fucking can't with some of the people higher up from me.

During the previous Olympics, I did some reading up on how the horses get transported. Geldings, mares and stallions are loaded into separate sections too. It's frikken wild.
I've been reading about air transportation for the Olympic horses, or as one service bills themselves: AIR HORSE ONE.

They use these handy individual stalls that can be loaded on carts and slid into place. Water and hay are provided, and a in-flight groom replaces all food/water every 2 hrs.

Small slivers of good news to keep climate doomerism at bay. I wonder if SA will ever severe it's toxic relationship to cars and fossil fuel generated electricity...

I'm still sad/salty that a job listing I was really gunning for I didn't get. Did the test, did the first interview, which went very well. Got immediate feedback and it was positive. Went for the 2nd interview, the "vibe check interview" the one I hate because I already know I do not pass...

Many people don't realise how climate change is already - not in the future - affecting our lives. And it's doing so in ways that, once our eyes are opened, we can notice!

For example, food. h/t @climatecentral.org

Pretty much all affordability discourse could benefit from just posting this chart.

If you're in the better off America, all the luxury goods you want in excess are for the most part much cheaper. If you're in the poorer America, most of the shit you need to live/grow is more expensive.

Currently going through what I'd experienced back in 2019. Job hunting and fucking face planting at the interview stage. The process speeds along until the in-person interview and then crickets for a week, maybe 2. Then a rejection email with a vague word salad that I'm not a good fit.

I took a nap after work today. I haven't done that in a long ass time. Definitely a sign of being deep in burnout for me. Along with other signs... wanting more solitude... being incredibly indecisive (or rather not having mental energy to go through weighing up options)...

"You can't un-invent AI!" We can't un-invent asbestos either. That doesn't mean we have to use it.

Doing my best to not get sucked into a depressive slump but man it's so hard. I'm trying to avoid social media and I catch myself almost falling into a political youtube spiral. Between the state of the world and my kak job I am not finding much joy. The one bright thing right now are 2 bands...

I have such very little desire to work today. I started a new crochet project last yesterday and it's literally the only thing I want to do right now.

I don't have enough saved up to go full freelance again yet, so unfortunately stuck with this less than fun job for a while.

Need to get me one of those pens.
Pilot had a massive ad spread in a jp newspaper with "make AI jealous" and "write what AI can't touch" written on it

Anyway I think everyone should own a Pilot kakuno pen

Okay, heads up to everyone considering downloading the new free version of Affinity: they make you sign up for a Canva account, and they absolutely collect a lot of data, including for AI training. If you must use Affinity, turn off everything on the "Personal privacy" page.

Orgs, take note.
October 31, 2025 at 12:04 AM
So...instead of becoming a competitor to Adobe, Canva swallowed up Affinity and basically released their shit website as an app and attached the name Affinity to it and gave it an even more shit logo. You get more "features" (ai) if you sign up for canva's premium subscription.

I finally get a response to a job application and I botched the design test, which I only realised at the last possible moment. I hate job hunting.
