Next time someone says they don’t have to apologize for being white anymore, ask them to tell about the most recent time they were forced to apologize for being white and who made them do it.

Two victims of previous school shootings — Mia Tretta, who was shot in the stomach in 2019 at Saugus High School, and Zoe Weissman, who survived the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School — are now at Brown. Gun violence is out of control in this country.

I'm getting tired of this President using his platform to verbally abuse and demean people in our country just because he can.

Hey dickhead, try doing your job better instead of focusing on all the 1980s put-downs.

we all got cowed into avoiding "virtue signaling" as if the public affirmation of socially agreed upon ethical principles was somehow cringey instead of a significant part of what a "society" even is. now all there's left is vice signaling, and it's reshaping society.

ICYMI: It’s nomination season, and if you’re a former guest editor of BAE or a writer who has appeared in its pages, I’d be really honored if you’d consider nominating my essay for BAE 2026. Nominations are due December 15. A link to nom guidelines in the thread.

It's unbelievable how corrupt the Supreme Court is. It's insane that we are letting them get away with it. They are taking away all of our rights.

I can't stop thinking about the purported drug smugglers being murdered by the US military. The punishment for drug offenses isn't the death penalty. This is just bloodlust and men in suits playing with lives they don't care about. It's truly grotesque and gravely compromises this country.

The fact that a second strike like that in an armed conflict is definitely a war crime should not completely negate the fact that *there is no war* and ALL the strikes are cold-blooded murder. The whole chain of command are murderers.

listen

I don't have any illusions about the United States military, what it does, or how many times this has happened before

but the fact that they sat there for 41 minutes, watched two scared, human beings desperately struggling to stay alive, and then murdered them has fucked me up so deeply

Melania chose “Home Is Where the Heart Is” as the theme for the White House Christmas decorations, which is pretty tone deaf for an administration deporting people from the only home they’ve known for decades. What’s next, a Great Gatsby party during a government shutdown?

When the U.S. commits war crimes, acts of war, and meddles in the internal affairs of other countries, it jeopardizes our national security because it invites retaliation and sets precedence for others to follow suit.

How about we worry less, as a society, about whether individuals might be cheating to get a disability accommodation or some help buying food, and more about whether extremely wealthy people and corporations are paying their fair share of taxes?

Last week, ICE arrested and separated a father and son after a routine check-in. Six-year-old Yuanxin had just enrolled in the first grade at an elementary school in Astoria. Now he's in custody, alone. ICE won't say where. This cruelty serves no one. It must end.

Every US military officer swears an oath when commissioned.

That oath is to NOT to obey all orders.
It is to preserve, protect & defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign & domestic.

Their 1st obligation is to obey the law & the law prohibits the deliberate killing of unarmed citizens.
