Trump is often discussed as one of the worst presidents in modern American history, but it’s important to remember that such a categorization is far too narrow.

Donald J. Trump is one of the worst people in modern American history.

I am all done baking for the youth group gingerbread house party later this week. My house smells wonderful.

Why would anyone want to visit the U.S. if this is what they will be subjected to?
Authoritarian police state stuff.
It's not just social media. Looks like visitors to the US from Europe and other countries that are part of the visa waiver program will have to submit an enormous amount of data about themselves and their families, including DNA, if proposed new rules are accepted

In honor of Jane Austen's 250th birthday. If you're in Midcoast Maine next weekend, come join us! (I'm not in it, but my husband is directing and also reading a couple of parts.)

A beautiful, heartbreaking thread.
LONG RAMBLING EMOTIONAL THREAD:

It's World AIDS Day. Since the Administration has decided to keep it quiet, I'd like to share my introduction to AIDS.

I grew up in Seattle. My mom remarried a man who had a brother who was a King County Sheriff's Deputy. His name was Terry and he was gay. 1/x

Hosting the family day-after-Thanksgiving leftovers feast means not only is our kitchen cleaner than it has been in ages, but we also got to keep some of the leftover cheese ball. Win-win.

Every year I am especially thankful for the strangers who saved my sister's life on Nov. 26, 2002. As she reminds us, "Life is short, so enjoy your family, your friends, your work and play. Hug your kids, kiss your sweetheart, call your parents, send a card to a friend, make a difference."

I'm waiting until after Thanksgiving to put up my own decorations, but it's fun to see some early decor around town. This lobster trap tree is at Round Top Farm in Damariscotta.

We started watching "The Lowdown" last night. It made no sense at all. At the end of the episode we realized Hulu had started us on episode 8 instead of 1. Aaargh!

Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

Today we honor the transgender lives taken by anti-trans violence. We hold their memory with love and stand with trans communities in grief, resilience, and strength.

May we deepen our solidarity and work for a world where all trans people can live safely and freely.

you could fact check this — there aren’t 30 million illegal immigrants and there is no evidence that the presence of an immigrant in say houston has any impact on housing in madison, wisconsin — or you could note straightforwardly that this is just nazi rhetoric
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

Mainers - vote NO on 1!
#MEPolitics: IMPORTANT - No matter who you vote for, if you value free, fair, and open elections, vote NO on Question 1.

You know what would really make America healthy? If RFK Jr. and his cronies fixed the broken health care system and made sure that everyone, not just special Trump supporters, could get the care they need.

You know who the real freeloaders in this country are? Not people who rely on SNAP, but corporations whose business model depends on wages so low that taxpayers have to feed their workers.

Just this morning I have seen posts from a small restaurant chain and a farm stand offering free food to those who will not be getting their SNAP benefits. These businesses have more compassion than most politicians.

Our local paper printed the full text of Question 1 this week. It would change so much more than requiring voter ID! I hope anyone who is considering voting yes on 1 will read the full text of what they are supporting. Here's another editorial urging a no vote. www.pressherald.com/2025/10/24/q...

A good reason to stay away from Portland, Maine, this weekend.
ALERT: Work in tourist biz in #Portland, like food service, or clerk/shop in the Old Port, or work/visit downtown?

Be aware there is a cruise ship docking on Sunday carrying the very contagious novovirus.

I reuse to repost the video, but I watched it once and my jaw dropped. Has there ever been a more vulgar president?
Trump’s video seems like the fever dream of someone very self conscious about their loss of bowel control.

This misleading ad was in last week's Lincoln County News. To save absentee voting, Mainers need to vote No on 1! Question 1 would make it harder for many people to get absentee ballots.
