Inspired by @garethlpowell.bsky.social, I made miniature books of my OWN books or the latest book nook.

Words cannot express how enormously pleasing this is to me!!

“Guinivere closed her eyes, put her hands out, and smiled.

The garden hummed.

It was nothing audible. It was nothing Idalia’s should have noticed. It was nothing that any bystander would notice. It was unmistakable.”

An Education in Malice by S.T. Gibson—delicious work.
What's the last title you borrowed from the library?

Start the year the way you intend to continue...

Which is why we all slept in and then went to a bookstore and are now all home reading our new books 😄

Shout out to that AI sounding the alarm. 🫡
When people like me say that generative AI devalues the work we put into writing...we are not exaggerating.

#writingcommunity, #amquerying, what has been your experience with the effectiveness of “just” querying? aka, without an in person meeting or conference pitch? we’ve heard horror stories about the likelihood of getting signed & are wondering…

1. feral girls with trust issues + a complicated relationship with violence
2. incredibly book smart, 0 emotional intelligence
3. manic pixie dream girl but with agency
4. self-doubting, self-sabotaging, self-sacrificing
4 types of characters I write:

1: Deeply, fiercely loyal to a few, will shape moral code around their loved ones
2: Melodramatic, catty, kind but not nice
3: Extreme competency as a cover for extreme self-loathing
4: Light's gone out of their eyes, haunting everyone as the ghost of themself
4 characters I write:
1) earnest nonbinary autistic ace reluctant protagonists👀
2) bumbling, big-hearted allies
3) the begrudgingly won-over would-be enemy
4) ethereal eldritch austere and ambiguous beings, possibly in forests (ok, usually in forests)

2 the feminine urge (to go apeshit)
3 dreamy and pathetic engenue, reliably damp, unreliably more than what they seem
4 put-upon but fundamentally sensible midwestern losers. there is a midwest in space and in fairyland. it's a state of mind

I love editing and giving my coauthor such helpful feedback as “no” “why??” “girl no he didn’t” and “what on god’s green earth are you on about” #writing #writingcommunity

J and I are finding as we edit that my sentences are too long and hers are too short. So maybe we balance out?

SIX OF CROWS MY BELOVED #booksky
Ever wonder what we do with books that are too broken or damaged to go back on the shelf?

Sometimes we use them for crafts, like these dark academia-themed bookmarks from Gum Spring Library; a fitting use of Leigh Bardugo's "Six of Crows" - a staff favorite!

Authors who only post book ads on Bluesky and then complain that Bluesky is terrible for engagement...

I mean, I'm 100% for advertising your stuff but if that's all you are doing here, yes, you are correct that you will not get much engagement, my friend 😂
