The more I think about the new V for Vendetta HBO series, the more I can only conclude that HBO have not thought about it.

It's a story about a (trans) terrorist Dr Phibes-ing their way through mainstream right wing types who enabled mediocre fascists to take power.

Wrightson was one of the greatest talents in the history of comics. An absolute master.
In honor of Bernie Wrightson's birthday, I'd like to share this classic story by Steve Skeates and Berni Wrightson.

Fifty-two years ago, Vernon Glute used to be "The Gourmet!"

actually 'Alan Moore' is a recurring myth-cycle figure, from the 13th century magician 'Alain Moore' said to have learnt his snake-craft in the Orient to the bearded 18th century highwayman 'Alan of the Moor' to today's magician-cum-comics book writer.
His lunacy is idiosyncratic and rooted in a particular place and social milieu, a crazy person that only NYC could generate. Like how Alan Moore could only come from Northampton

This artisanal madness is refreshing (and vanishing!) in the age of insanity as a work of digital reproduction

I thought this was something I'd said on here, but apparently it was on the bad old site:
If you've ever turned up uninvited at my father-in-law's house because you were on some imaginary magical fanboy quest, I definitely don't want to be online friends with you. It's not a cool, fun, quirky story.

“Tortoise? What's that?”
“You know what a turtle is?”
“Of course
“Same thing.”

(Out this very month in 1986, just 39 years ago, the epochal Watchmen #4, with its cover by Dave Gibbons & John Higgins.)

You be careful out there among them English, Joanne Book.

Alan's scripts were conversations with the artist, and as such, highly readable and pleasurable to work from. Here's a scan of pg. 1 of SAGA OF THE SWAMP THING #20, Alan's first-ever issue, when he didn't know who the artist would end up being (it was Dan Day, pencils, John Totleben, inks)...
