one of the stories Kevin Drum championed over his career was the causative link between environmental lead poisoning and other societal ills. I think it's one of the most important stories of the last 20 years and Drum was one of the main reasons people knew about it. RIP

I understand these idiotic conspiracy theories are always going to exist in the world, but I have to believe serving them up via recommendation algorithms to millions of vulnerable people (especially kids) is going to have a serious impact on our ability to survive as a species over a period of time

The west Texas and eastern New Mexico measles epidemic has exploded after a dump of measles lab reports in New Mexico. Lea County, New Mexico (pop. 73,000) now has 30 cases, and 1 death. Gaines County, Texas (pop. 21,500) has 137 cases, and 1 death.
