Good grief…Kirsten the crazy cat lady just accused me of going to NW Crossing and stealing the cat.

And block.

This.
It's weird to not be excited about a world cup in the US. Saw my timeline talking about watching the draw live or with friends, and I ...just don't care. At all. We are kidnapping immigrants off the street, who is even going to show up at this point. Haitians aren't even allowed in the country.

1. Fuck this entire administration for this hate crime.
2. Props to NPR for not deadnaming her and giving this bullshit air to survive.
This is a cruel act of bigotry against an amazing woman who served her country with distinction.

This just kicks in my stubborn streak. They let her in for 5 days, let her play in a parking lot and did nothing seek vet care even though their friend is a vet.

We took her to our vet this evening- she’s a very small adult lady cat who’s spayed. Assuming her people don’t reach out she’s found a place here.

She’s charming us all. Also, I have been informed by my niece (who turns 2 in February) that this is Juniper.

Still doing our best to find her people but worried what type of person would let a sweet lump of charcoal out on her own in December in the high desert.

Just had somebody accuse us of keeping the cat from going home. Listen- indoor/outdoor cats are an ecological nightmare. Also it's going to be 25 degrees tonight and the cat was un-microchipped and without a collar.

Some peoples children. Seriously.

I fear we’ve been chosen. This cat walked into my BIL’s office. And they’re letting my niece snuggle them.

This AP news story is incredible from front to back but I wanted to flag something super serious and wildly illegal that may have flown under the radar. It’s called parallel construction and it’s when intel is washed from spy agencies and used by local cops. apnews.com/article/immi...

I know this is correct, but it’s also really hard to sit with when those of us who STUDIED FUCKING HISTORY WERE SOUNDING THE ALARM THE ENTIRE TIME SINCE GUANTANAMO OPENED UP AGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH
A running theme of Trump II is cautious, level-headed, mainstream, career professional experts sounding existential alarms about how we aren't panicking nearly enough.
I know you already know, but for other folks who don't, Goldsmith was previously head of OLC, is a genuinely brilliant mind on executive authority and separation of powers, and is usually very cautious about making claims this unqualified and direct. That he is saying it so starkly is v significant

I was anxious about the turkey this year. But holy shit it turned out amazing. Several family members said it was the best we’ve had.

Special thanks to @justicar.xyz & @dartastic.bsky.social for the tips and reassurance.

Now I just need to work on my turkey carving technique.

I understand the incredulity. The problem is that you have to go through TSA on all domestic flights and TSA is DHS and when they scan your ID they see all the DHS records.

I made gravy in advance- because whats worse than having to rush the gravy making when you’re done with the turkey.

I roasted the neck and backbone after spatchcocking…hours.

It’s gone. 99% sure that my sister tossed it. FFS.

The north end circa 2014-15.
Forget grandiloquence, “hiraeth” is a word we all need. It’s a feeling I have often: mainly for the distant land that is my youth.
Hiraeth (HEE-reyeth)
(n.)
- An intense longing for a home you can’t return to, or that never was.

Used in a sentence:
“And evermore, deep in his small and ancient brest, there stirred a sorrow sharp as winter wind—a hiraeth for the numinous lands of Faerie that slipt into legend many ages agone.”

Why yes…that is the ASPCA song you hear. Baggins got his fall bath today and he is very fluffy and put out.

You would think he gets as many baths as a normal dog (Cardigans have special coats that wick off normal dirt so he gets a bath every 4-5 months or when he rolls in something smelly).
