Trump is living in the past again. The largest movie market in the world is now China. Second is North America (USA and Canada). In third place is the EU. But if you split up USA and Canada, as Trump wants to do, then USA is only in third place behind China and the EU. Hollywood NEEDS those markets!

Devastating.

I was asked me how long it would take for the tariffs to impact the general American day to day. As soon as we run out of a) on hand inventory (2-4 weeks usually) and then b) when we get through the ships on their way before tariffs. This is outbound but, it looks like that wave is about to hit.
The freight guys have really started freaking out over the past 48-72 hours:

I agee w Patrick. (We lived in China at same time, diff on many things, agree here.)

Chinese leaders always reckoned with the vast *depth* of US strength. Institutions, networks, expertise.

Now, in cold-blooded rather than triumphalist mode, they recognize they're dealing with nuts and clowns.
The trade war will undoubtedly hurt the Chinese economy. But I honestly don’t think Xi cares. He sees this correctly, as a historic opportunity to destroy U.S. global influence.
Views for Al Jazeera: The dip in #HongKong offered a more accurate gauge of the market’s expectations for how the #tariffs will affect #China’s economy than the stock markets on the Chinese mainland.

The ROI for "one-off s*** to keep kids engaged in school" is basically infinite, this is all so dumb.
I just got confirmation that National History Day, a program that does more to ignite K-12 students' love of history, learning, and yes, even the United States than anything else I've ever seen, had all its funding cut yesterday by the DOGE-axe at the NEH - including for this year's ongoing contest.

My heart breaks for the millions of Ukrainians who have been betrayed by our traitorous president in his pathetic quest for Putin’s approval. Ukraine’s people have shown immense courage in the face of Russia’s brutal, illegal aggression; they deserve our admiration and support. Trump is a quisling.

Trump and Vance act as if the problem is that Ukraine is resisting an ongoing Russian invasion. The problem is the ongoing Russian invasion. If they want to use American power to stop the war, apply it to the aggressor. Abusing the victim is not going to end a war of aggression.
