I don't give a fuck about midterms if abolish ICE isn't the platform
There is a difference between people who see the goal as electing Democratic politicians and people who see the goal as trying to stop the violence against our neighbors and friends.

There is, we hope, significant overlap between the two goals.

I don’t want to hear anything from an elected official unless it’s a plan to defund the DHS and impeach Noem, Bovino, etc. No texts. No emails. No talk about the economy. Step up or step off.

Way back in 2024, this was what I would try to get across to anyone wanting to sit the election out. I wasn't and still am not willing to throw up my hands and accept that it has to remain The Bad Place forever.
This. It’s not complicated at all. This is not a The Good Place. Never was. It is nevertheless where we live and we should try to make it better.

Let's do this shit.
There's a call for a nation-wide work walkout on Tues the 20th from 2-3pm local time, and a call for a general strike on Fri the 23rd all day.

Not everyone is able to strike/walk out, but if you can, it's a great way to show support.
'Will ICE Ignite a Mass Strike in Minnesota?'

'Under siege, Minnesotans are leaning on organizations at work and in their neighborhoods to end the terror'

The first thing Virginia Spanberger did after being sworn in as Governor of Virginia was repeal Youngkin’s executive order requiring state and local law enforcement to cooperate with ICE.

This is the kind of leadership Democratic governors nationwide should be emulating.

It's actually a good thing that previously apolitical normies are finally getting angry and starting to speak out. We need the numbers in the streets and at the polls.

If your response to them is "no, fuck you, too late," then you don't actually care about stopping Trump. You're just preening.

A hard lesson of history is that "normal" doesn’t return on its own. People have to fight for it. And they have to believe in it.

Take Anne Frank. Her hope wasn’t ignorance, it wasn’t naive, it was courage. It was choosing to keep her humanity intact in a world that was trying to erase it.

was organizing some old 4x5 scans and found some photos that i really, really like and had completely forgotten about. first one is the paramount theater, second is a long-since removed oldsmobile that was down the street from me, and third is downtown building that gets gorgeous sunlight at dusk.

I am absolutely begging people to learn nuance and recognize that not everything is black and white. Online rhetoric wants to draw a line in the sand when often the discussion is a microcosm of the broader issue.

We disregard this at our peril. Movement building is, by nature, inclusive.

ROBIN HOOD (2010) is a top 5 Ridley Scott movie, for me, and the best adaptation of the English myth. Too many great versions in other cultures to count, but this, too, is a good one.
