I hate more and more that I'm such a big fan of Disney. I keep telling myself, "I like everything Disney, except for Disney [the company] itself," but obviously that doesn't change that whenever I buy some merch, I line the pockets of an awful, awful company that needs to, but will never change.

I just HATE that DLSS, fractal noise and even procedural generation are labeled as "GenAI", when none of them use art scraped from copyrighted works or require power-guzzling town-wrecking datacenters.
They are miracles of programming and seeing them get the same label is frankly heartbreaking💔

I'm realizing this article is extra gross as it's really trying hard to conflate Machine Learning (better photos from cellphones, phone navigation, search results, etc.) with full Generative AI (overeager autocomplete, the plagiarism gacha, etc.) Like, it's insidious in its framing on many levels.
the nyt posts this stuff like avoiding AI for 48 hours is hard and meanwhile i have literally never once intentionally used an AI program for anything ever
