what if one stopped taking the view that there is any single "The Authentic People" in the US, a concept which is in itself rooted in volkishness and fascism. what if instead we took the position that any attempt to determine "authenticity" is some fascist bullshit and everyone deserves care.
Another good practice for the New Year would be for all the non-fascists in America who want to opine about politics to really begin believing that urban America is Real America & that its denizens are The Authentic People. Get some self-respect & drop the volkish nationalist view that they're not
And I think liberals should stop taking the bait and ceding ground on immigration.

Immigration is good. Multiculturalism is good. Free trade is good. Stop being embarrassed to say so.

TRUTH
Scholars who do historical research, eat your Wheaties (or whatever else fuels you). In the year of the nation's 250th birthday, there will be all sorts of nonsense that we will counter-program with actual history.
a bowl of cereal with milk being poured into it and the words `` got wheaties '' written on the bottom .

The lessons to take from this:

1) If you're in the US, leverage that legal protection to say these things for your UK friends who can't!

2) Stop fucking giving Head Bigot JK Rowling money to finance legal terrorism against people who identify raging bigots as raging bigots.

The document says, "Educators must learn how they can use AI to simplify their working lives."

Now you are demanding teachers use "A.i."

Educators don't need to use "A.i." Educators need to be paid more. Not to enrich corporations by using untested, dangerous "A.i." products.

I say this ALL THE TIME
When we say "no, everything hasn't been digitized," I need you to understand that we really mean is that virtually nothing has been digitized. This is because the realm of primary sources that historians use is incomprehensibly large.
Seems like it's worth posting this one again.

Just once, I'd like to see Dick Durbin *try* to explain the actual mechanisms by which repealing 230 will protect children from being exploited and abused. There will be hand waving about how it will "open them up to litigation" but that's not an answer.
Children are being exploited and abused because Big Tech consistently prioritizes profits over people.

Enough is enough. Time to sunset Section 230.

Which is to say – opposition rhetoric needs to sow doubt among the trumpist lackeys and their oligarch funders that they will just get away with their crimes. They need to worry and know we will come after them - and any wealth they try to pass on to their heirs - forever.

it is hard to think of another political figure in my lifetime I have turned on harder than Hillary Clinton. I am exactly the right flavor of Middle Aged White Lady to have been DEEPLY emotionally invested in her way back when, but every time she opens her mouth now I’m like “holy shit lady 🤯”
Hillary Clinton blames TikTok and “totally made up” videos for young people’s views on Israel and Palestine.

She says social media influenced “not just the usual suspects” but also “young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand.”

So it turns out it’s the massively overpaid execs who could be replaced by AI… who’d have guessed
A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

Really exciting that AOC is considering a run for president. Don't listen to the people who stuck us with Joe Biden. She can win — and she can do it for two terms.

AOC built her own political machine. Now she’s deciding her next move.
Seven years after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez leapt onto the national stage as an outsider, she’s learned an inside game and is considering a run for Senate or president.
