The thing about Y2K is that it actual was a very real problem, it’s just that before the clock struck midnight that A LOT of very hardworking computer people had put A LOT of time and dedication into preventing it from happening.

Thanks to @ellesep.bsky.social I finally watched While You Were Sleeping today. Don't ask me how it took me this long. What a delightful little movie.

We lost Rebecca five years ago today. ❤️
Rebecca Luker somehow seems to find the camera while singing "My White Knight" (perhaps the finest rendition we've ever known) during a performance of The Music Man.

That final ethereal A-flat was a formative moment for me (I saw the show on March 15, 2001, as an early HS graduation gift)

Bari Weiss is an actual, unqualified diversity hire AND white supremacy hire at the same time
really cannot be emphasized enough that bari weiss has literally never done journalism. i don’t mean that in the pejorative sense. i mean that in the “has never performed the job she was hired to do” sense
One explanation for Bari killing the story is that she did so as a public act of fealty to the administration. But another is that, as an inexperienced journalist, she doesn’t understand that a refusal to go on the record is a kind of comment in and of itself

Now seems like a swell time to point out that Frontline just released this excellent 11-minute mini-documentary about what happened inside CECOT.

It's very, very far down the list of appalling things he's done, but the tacky, vainglorious desecration of the Kennedy Center—which I was a regular attendee at & patron of for many years—is particularly personally nauseating. I look forward to going again someday once his name has been scrubbed.

On this day in 1977, the All In The Family Christmas episode "Edith's Crisis of Faith" aired. It's an incredibly sad and moving two-part episode that centers on the death of a queer character, Beverly LaSalle. LaSalle had been one of the first reoccurring queer characters on TV --

This is actual anti-semitism, and whether he knows the origin of “covetous Jew” or not he needs to apologize and put in the work to realize just how harmful something like that stereotype is
On a livestream yesterday, Puka both:
- Said that the Refs throw flags that they know are bad to brag to their friends in group chats, and
- Told Adin Ross that he'd do a "covetous jew" celebration on his next TD score

Suspend him tbh

Just asking for the class, was that *before* or *after* he condemned an entire generation to die horribly from AIDS while he obliterated all the union protections that kept the rich from exploiting everyone? I’ll hang up and listen.
The presidency once served as a reminder of our common humanity. Ronald Reagan described its purpose as building "a nation composed of good and decent people."

Not everything has to transfer to Broadway from Off. Not every show coming into NYC with name recognition has to play Broadway And shows who actually do out of town tryouts need to work on the issues with their shows before they come in, and some just need to accept defeat.

One way that the reaction to Rob Reiner's murder mirrors Charlie Kirk's is that the best way to eulogize each of them is to quote their words, and in both cases, doing so pisses off conservatives.
Rob Reiner: “Silence in the face of authoritarianism is complicity. Speaking out is a patriotic act. Democracy doesn’t defend itself. It requires participation, vigilance, and courage from ordinary people."
