Everyone already knows Republicans don't care about their healthcare costs! It's why the government was shut down for 40 days in the first place! They had just rejected a one year extension outright like two days before you all caved! A vote does nothing!

if a Senator cannot compellingly and aggressively call for these bare minimum changes to party leadership—*any* Senator, no matter their name, policies, past accomplishments—then they cannot remain in office. and they should not know a single fucking moment of peace until they’re cast out for good.
The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

I think this is likely (looking at you @markwarner.bsky.social) and I need you to understand that if this is true and you're afraid of your voters being angry over this deal, you shouldn't be making it AT ALL
Important to understand this. There's a reasonable chance that your Dem Senator who voted against it and is acting mad now was in on the play. It's the same reason why they scheduled the surrender for AFTER the election this week. They didn't want people pissed at Dems right before an election.
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.

yes, exactly. i understand why they would make this choice, and i can even respect it. but it is career ending, because you don’t have the nerves for what will have to come next.
anyone who is not willing to take the risk of gambling with starvation in order to save our system of government has no place in the Senate, and those who decided that they couldn't play a game with those stakes have not necessarily done anything wrong. they just have to leave.
two contradictory ideas that i hold in my head at the same time: 1) i think the threat to both SNAP recipients and federal workers is significant enough now that even bad deals are worth making to prevent further harm, and, 2) everyone who caves now should retire in shame

Republicans could've funded any and all of the things at stake for the shutdown, but chose not to. By taking this deal, Democrats are giving them the leeway to make healthcare more expensive for millions with nothing to show for it. I'm livid.

Props where it's due, Warner voting no is great.
But I cannot support a deal that still leaves millions of Americans wondering how they are going to pay for their health care or whether they will be able to afford to get sick.
