The Trump Justice Department has roughly 5.2 million pages of Epstein files documents still to be reviewed and released to the public.

All documents were supposed to be released on December 19.

The Department is in violation of the law Trump himself signed. www.nytimes.com/2025/12/30/u...

the zoom interviews were unbelievably bad
NFL broadcasts basically only work because TV has been a unionized business for a long time so naturally Netflix and Amazon look like children comparatively

I don't get why the broadcast is making it sound so complicated. Offensive penalty, time had expired.

I wonder how much of this is Instagram and TikTok convincing kids that they're poor because they don't have a penthouse apartment with a car elevator like their favorite influencer
Americans in their 20s and 30s may not feel that they’re richer than their equivalents 60 years ago, but they’re objectively wrong.

It’s fascinating how important it is to some people not to say “I’m struggling, it’s hard” or “I need help”—objectively true—but to instead insist they have it worse.

not that the present economic picture is rosy, but i do think that popular culture — and specifically nostalgia bait television — is a big part of the reason that our public memory of the 1970s, 1980s and even 1990s seems to miss the real economic pain that marked each of those decades.

Serious question: where are these kids' parents? If my kid started talking like this I would smash their phone with a hammer and never let them have unsupervised internet access again.

The internet sucks now because everything needs to result in the maximal outcome so instead of seeing the Coldplay couple and going “lol pretty funny” we end up with this, everything is Qanon, everything is the Inquisition, when the fun of it should be “well, never have to think about this again!”
It was a perfect viral moment, a 5 second video snippet that appeared to tell an entire story. Then the country got way, way, way too invested.

People obsessively defend the most noxious ethnonationalist slogans of the anti-Israel camp because they enjoy forcing Jews to tolerate them, not because they have some magical effect towards Palestinian liberty. They add no votes, no money, no bullets.

It is ritual community shaming & abasement.
It is an act of profound contempt where forcing you to pretend the evidence of your own eyes and mind are absurdities is part of how they demonstrate your powerlessness.

Jews are a favorite target because there aren't enough of us to mount a counter offensive & they like rubbing our noses in it.

hell, I think it's perfectly reasonable for someone *not to have known who Epstein was* in 2010. It wasn't a massive story then! But you've got to disclose that you met him *when you write about him now*.
you know, I'd understand if someone said "okay well before any photos come out, I had dinner with Jeffrey Epstein in 2010. I knew he was a scumbag but I wanted to meet Woody Allen. It was stupid and I regret it." but now it's just like oh there's David Brooks in a photo dump with some poor teenager

Yeah I'm confused by this too. If I'd whipped out a Game Boy, even during lunch, any school I went to it would have been taken.
"Other students have discovered vintage technology like Game Boys and mp3 players."

Game Boys and other video game consoles weren't allowed at my school either, and I think that was quite common?
