In Hakoniwa Explorer Plus, you can softlock your game if you kill the true final boss too fast because it skips some sort of flag on phase change. To my knowledge you can only do this by setting yourself on fire and spamming water bottles.

The game is weird.
i was going through my X archives and found this by @superpodsaga.com, which I qrt'd at some point years ago

so, let me bring the question back: what is the most useless piece of video game knowledge you know?

True freedom is the skill where not maxing it out at chargen will lock you out of the main quest twenty hours later and the skill that has exactly one (1) non-trivial check in the entire game both costing one point per rank.

No, I 100% agree that computer RPGs these days have too much handholding. I, too, yearn for the days of being able to spend hours crafting my perfect build from hundreds of available options, only to discover that it mathematically cannot survive the mandatory rat fight portion of the first dungeon.

Look, if you're not an expert you wouldn't know, but this chart is bullshit. They could not possibly measure this as 1. How can you tell for sure? There's no reliable automated way. 2. You're not counting the many sites that are blocking crawlers now.

But there's an even more important reason...

Those dipshits can do whatever they like, they'll never have the thrill of skipping most of Leyndell by creeping up to the big elevator disguised as a potted plant and getting investigated AND DISMISSED by a misbegotten along the way. Funniest cartoon shit ever.

i remember when noah caldwell-gervais did a video on the souls games and he made a point of showing how figuring out alternate ways to get through challenges beyond just tackling things head on helped him get through the game and the souls chuds eviscerated him for not doing it "properly"

One is the annoying things with the difficulty discussion around Souls games is that they HAVE diegetic difficulty relief valves and the fandom pretends they're like an accident
Fromsoft players are like... damaged. Speaking as someone who loves the games, the community is insufferable in their attitude that the game has a "right" way to be played. (Probably born from the "Its so hard!" circle jerk early coverage/marketing of DS1 spawned)

they're not even replacing lowly-paid gig economy contractors, they're just offshoring those jobs & hiding them behind a pretence of AI.
Just as you thought food delivery companies couldn't inflict any more misery on society:

Instead of using lowly-paid gig economy contractors to deliver groceries, they're replacing humans with robots, who, in turn, force humans off the pavement into road traffic.
